Alternate Ending Contest- Bella's Choice
Equilibrium
Alternate Ending to Twilight
His lips lingered at my throat and I closed my eyes, in preparation for the bite which would plummet me into a whole new world. His world. I could feel his frozen but incredibly soft lips make their way up towards my mouth, leaving me somewhat confused. But I couldn't pull away from the gravitational force of his mouth against mine.
"You can't really believe I'd give in so easily." He teased, but there was a hard edge to his voice, as if even the mere illusion of me joining his world was an unbearable thought. Tears sprung to my eyes, as I began to believe that he didn't want me in his world, that being human was enough of a barrier to keep me apart from his life.
I stepped away, noticing the confusion in his eyes. I never pulled away from his touch; it was always the other way round. I saw him cock his head to one side, as he tried to assess the expression on my face. My only thought was that, I had to end this thing before it began. If he didn't want me in his world but was perfectly content to be in mine, then there was obviously a severe equilibrium problem between our realities. Although Edward was the furthest thing from reality you could ever find, he was intertwined in my life, my thoughts and memories as much as I was in his. But after all, I was only a mere human.
"What's wrong Bella?" He asked, stepping towards me. I must've looked upset because his expression changed to anxiety in a single second.
"If you don't want…want me." I began, biting my lip as I tried to think of how I was going to phrase the next bit. Edward stiffened as he prepared for me to say the words that would break his heart. I almost couldn't say it; it was like kicking a puppy. "I shouldn't stay in your world. You say you love me, but I'm going to get old one day. And then…then…I…I…" I couldn't finish the sentence. Edward had never seen me so incoherent before, except when he was dazzling me of course. He immediately wrapped his arms around me and let me sigh deeply into his chest. I wanted more, as selfish as it sounded, but a lifetime of Edward wasn't enough. I wanted an eternity of him. To wake up every morning of forever and see his gorgeous face next to me. To feel his arms around me, protecting me and to feel his tender lips press against mine. Plus, if I was a vampire, there would be no more need for caution, hesitation or reluctance on his part. He could lose control, and not be at risk at hurting me.
