Sudden anger flared in Ashley’s eyes. She gripped the rail of Spencer’s bed tight enough to turn her knuckles white and the joints in her jaws were locked tight. Spencer looked up at Ashley afraid that she was about to do something stupid and was shocked when Ashley just sat there the way she did. Spencer slowly raised her arm ignoring the pain the soared through her body and gently caressed Ashley face trying to loosen up her muscles.

Spencer: “Ashley please calm down there is nothing you can do about it. It’s don’t and over with.” Spencer said sweetly as she just continued to rub Ashley’s cheek.

Ashley: “I know but it makes me mad that that bitch fucking touched you.” 

Spencer: “It doesn’t matter because there is nothing you can do about it now.” Some of the anger was receding from Ashley’s eyes but she was still tense.

Ashley: “I know. I know and I feel like I let you down by not being there when you needed me.” Ashley’s head feel in shame.  Spencer shifted her hand so Ashley’s chin rested in her soft palm and she raised Ashley’s head to its normal level.

Spencer: “What are you talking about you’ve always been there when I needed you. When I was on that street about to die that’s when I needed you and you were right there, and I love you for that.” Just then Arthur and Chelsea came into the room holding flowers for Spencer.

Arthur: “Hey honey.” He leaned over and wrapped his daughter in a big hug, refusing to let go. Ashley signaled for Chelsea to follow her outside so Spencer and Arthur could have their time together.

Ashley and Chelsea sat on a bench in the atrium of the hospital. They sat in silence for a while before Chelsea broke the silence.

Chelsea: “So who did this to her?”

Ashley: “Sherry.”  Ashley growled out her name.

Chelsea: “ What we going to do about that?”

Ashley: “What you mean we? What you got to do with this?”

Chelsea: “What I got to do with dis dat bitch fuckin beat my best friend and she fuckin raped her yo what don’t I have to do wit dis?” Chelsea’s black side was coming out and she really didn’t care.
