Breaking Away From The Habit
"What did you imagine?" He looked up at her with questioning eyes.
She stared into his eyes not really wanting to talk about it since she didn't want him to think she was crazy. However maybe he could help. "Charlie attacking me…" She looked away.
"Well you know that can't be possible." He wasn't trying to be mean, just reassuring her that she would be ok and it was just her imagination. His arms drew tighter around her waist.
"How do you know? Is it easier to believe I'm going crazy or that vampires exist? Why not ghost?" His hold on her made her feel safe, but she didn't like not having the answers to this and really did not want to be committed because she was insane.
She sighed and leaned her head against him. "I don't want to go to Florida." She knew she was still going to have to go since she promised Renee, but with something like this happening it scared her to be away from Edward. What would she tell Renee if something like this had happened there? She would surely think her daughter needed help.
"I really don't want you to go either, but it makes your mother happy. You're already done packing, so just let me enjoy you for as long as I can before you leave." He smiled and got one from her in return as they moved to the bedroom.
The whole evening had been extremely stressful for Bella and the next few days of change without Edward was going to be difficult. All she wanted to do really was just rest and be as close to him as possible. Apparently his mind was the same because he was perfectly content to hold her as long as she wanted.
As she lay there a strange thought crossed her mind out of nowhere. After the current events she couldn't blame her mind from wandering to that point. She remembered when she was younger and her mom had a small dog named Doodle. The dog would sit there for hours staring into the same spot across the room facing the wall. You could get her attention and seconds later the dog's eyes would return to the same spot no matter what. Sometimes she would even randomly bark at it. She used to wonder if the dog was staring at some unseen object that humans wouldn't notice. Like something was there watching her she couldn't see. Then some days the dog would be staring in other directions. Had the object moved? She took notice of this with other animals as well and after seeing Charlie in the bathroom she wondered if it truly was possible. This was a thought about ghost that had haunted her for years until the dog had passed away.
