In the mix – (Chapter: One)

The sun was setting overhead, turning the sky a dark shade of red and orange, as people breezed by to reach their destination. The temperature was dropping as Spencer Carlin walked to reach the bank. Looking up at the sky, she realized what a beautiful sight it was as she walked beside her two friends.

As usual, it had been Madison’s idea to go on such an expensive vacation, which wasn’t so bad now that Spencer thought about it. They all felt that they needed a break from their regular schedule to go somewhere and have some fun. Planning a trip to Las Vegas seemed the perfect way to do it.

Madison Duarte had a lot of ideas, most of them being illegal or sex related. But then, she was a freaky girl, so that made sense. She was always talking about how to catch a man. Not just any man, but the perfect “Sugar Daddy”. She had high hopes for finding someone on this trip.

Chelsea opened the door for all three of them as Spencer stepped in first. The cool air conditioning was a relief from some of the heat outside. The three girls approached the counter as a nerdy looking red headed computer geek looked up at them.

“May I help you?” he asked as he pushed his glasses up on his nose. The three girls resisted the urge to laugh at his high pitched voice.

“Yes, I’d like to withdraw money from my account.” Spencer said, as the boy stared behind her. She glanced behind her to see that he was staring at Madison. Spencer shook her head and smiled at the boy who’s nametag read Jimmy. She snapped her fingers to get his attention as he handed her a slip to fill out.

Spencer couldn’t blame him one bit. With the way that Madison dressed, Spencer would probably stare also.

When the three girls had met in college four years before, Spencer had just naturally taken the lead. She usually had an open mind and thought things out before she said them, which the other two didn’t do. Madison tended to panic and rush headlong into the wrong direction.  Chelsea resisted anything that she deemed too drastic.  Spencer kept an open mind most of the time.  She would always weigh a decision carefully, but quickly, and when she had decided on a course of action, she was very difficult to sway.
