Paula turned her head when Spencer walked in. She knew that Spencer could tell that she had been crying. Spencer opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. Paula noticed the trouble her daughter was having and broke the silence. “Spencer, I’m so sorry”
Glen walked in behind Spencer noticing the looks on both of their faces and decided to go upstairs leaving the two alone. Finally he gets his timing right Paula thought.
Spencer moved to sit directly next to Paula. “Mom, I know you understand what I am feeling for Ashley.”
Paula took a deep breath. She knew that her daughter would have many questions. “I do.”
“I don’t understand then. Why did you throw Ashley out? Call her a bad influence? Said being gay was a choice? Forbid me to see her? Said I was… disgusting? Where did all of that come from?”
“Spencer, I didn’t want you to have to experience the things that I did. I could see where your relationship with Ashley was going. I wanted to make you understand that it was the wrong choice. Just like it was the wrong choice for me. And then when I saw and heard you with Ashley, now twice I might add. I knew that I was too late. I was so angry. I’m still angry.”
“Mom, tell me about her.. Tell me about Spencer”
The quietness briefly returned to the room as Paula was deciding how best to express her feelings.
“Spencer was a beautiful girl. Long brown hair. Petite. So Sassy. So headstrong. I loved that about her. She was so different than me. When I first met her we didn’t get along, she was actually mean to me, but then we ended up in the same class together and became the best of friends.” Sounds so familiar Spencer thought to herself.
“How did you two become…girlfriends?” Feeling a little uneasy about asking her mom a question that seemed so intimate.
“It was the beginning of winter and we were outside at this huge bonfire. All the kids were running around but we were tucked away in the back under a tree talking into the night. She was always very easy to talk to and then a moment happened” Paula began to cry. “ I kissed her. I felt so safe. It just happened.”

Wow that was very touching chapter. Had me in tears when paula was telling spencer about her and spencer. I cant belive after all what she told spencer she still doesnt want them together.PMS
Gosh, how can Paula be so touching and hypocritical at the same time…geez. You’d think she’d realize that she’s doing to Spencer what her parents did to her. By doing that she’s just pushing Spencer away…aiyah, parents…I don’t get them.

Oh holy…here I am sick balling over this chapter! I mean you brought tears to my eyes it was just so…and then at the end when she said that she and Ashley would always be. This was, that was…and you actually made me like Paula for a minute there! No ones ever made me like her if their fics…ugh and in a way I can understand why she’s doing what she’s doing. But then again she’s doing exactly what her parents did to her and look at what happened there! ARGH…you totally rule! Keep writing, and I’ll keep reading.
