Minor setbacks, major jump, take your pick, it's a real stump – (Chapter: I can't hear my thoughts-Same book, different words)
I can’t hear my own thoughts. The music playing is blaring, and my sight’s blocked by a ranger of peer pressured girls and boys my age, doing the unthinkable. I look around for her. I curse under my breath, this is what happens when you leave your girl for 5 minutes at a party like this. I see all sorts of hair colors, belonging to young women swinging in the air, none are the distinct color of black I’m looking for. Someone darts behind a corner, gone baby gone. Realizing she’s out of here, and out of my life, I make my way back to a once secluded room.
I find my mistake there. " It over?" it rolls off of her tongue with a touch of excitment, and an even more noticeable drunk slur. I look at her disgusted, digusted, but helplessly infatuated. It wasn’t my first time doing this, far from it, though, it was my first time getting caught. "You know it is…" I let out finally, after taking in her face despite the clear issue of light in the roomy area. She moves from off of the bed, slowly making her way to me. Or so I thought, but I soon found myself standing alone.
—A week passes
"You can’t still be holding a grudge" she says to me in utter disbelief. I turn to her unaware of what to say, anything but ‘no’. I shake my head and walk away from her. She touches my arm, going to grab my wrist, but hesitating when the thought of my retaliation comes into view. "Look, I’m not saying sorry if that’s what you want…well, technically that wasn’t all you wanted that night" it started arrogant, and ended completley cavalier. I swallow trying to maintain my compuser in public, though causing scenes wasn’t out of my general nature anymore.
I do so successfully, making my way to my locker. She slumps to the side of it, blocking my neighbor’s access. "Hey, move it" her attempt is to no avail. "It’s not like you need your books anyway Janet, we all know unless your classes are in blowjobs 101, you aren’t passing anything…" vehement words have come to her like air latley. I stare at my hurt friend as she walks off, obviously in no mood to debate her cruel, but true, observation. Before I have time to let some of my own words fly, I’m pushed to my locker roughly. "I know" she says in a low tone then tilts her head lower so her sight fixates on my legs, I sigh, and try to move freely away from her grasp. "Know what?" I was curious.
