    Trouble in paradise when the paradise is taken over by paula

    Ashley found herself an hour later in her car pulled over across the street from a familiar home. There were three lights on inside and she could see Arthur’s silhouette occasionally walking past. The sight of the Carlin residence made her stomach flip. Either that or it was her numerous shots from the bar. It didn’t mater which, fact was she was about to hurl.

     

    She quickly stumbled from the car and tucked her hair behind each ear as she gagged everything she had drunk onto the black street. No matter how much she wanted it to, it wouldn’t stop and she felt like she was throwing up for hours. Soon she felt a hand grasp at her hair and hold it back for her. Another hand ran up and down her back and even slapped it lightly a few times. She couldn’t see who it was, but they weren’t Spencer and it made the heaving come harder and faster.

     

    Once she finished and had nothing left to spew, she grabbed a few napkins from her glove compartment and wiped her mouth still without looking to see who had held her hair back. She finally made it in front of the person who had apparently been talking the whole time. “I mean, if you’re sick you should be in bed resting instead of driving.” Arthur finished.

     

    Ashley just stared at him for a few moments confused. “Mr. C, I’m not sick, so don’t worry about it. I’m fine.” Her voice was deep and slurred.

     

    “Ashley, are you drunk?” He asked and as Ashley tried to make it to the driver’s seat; she slipped off the edge and fell onto the pavement. “I’m going to take that as a yes. Get in the house.” He ordered. He didn’t sound upset or angry, but he sounded disappointed.

     

    Ashley saw it all the same. “You aren’t my dad.” She spat at him angrily.

     

    “No, you’re right. I’m not your father, but right now I’m the closest thing you’ve got!” He said now demanding her to do as she was told. “Now get inside the house. You’re staying here tonight. I’m not about to have you kill yourself from drunk driving.”
