Another two weeks went by, and I hadn’t spoken to Ashley. I’m not worried though because we left things on a very good note. Carmen has been keeping me busy, and out of bars. She has become a really good friend.

We’re in the mall shopping. Ashley is coming home tomorrow night and I want to look good when I pick her up.

“So what are you going for?” Carmen asked sipping her oversized food court soda.

“I want to be pretty”

“You ARE pretty”

“No but I want to be … a different kind of pretty… a specific kind of pretty” I told her

“Girlfriend pretty?” she asked teasingly

“Well is that so bad?” I asked defensively

“No no its cute”

“Well I am adorable” I joked, and she rolled her eyes.

“Lets see how about… This v-neck sweater, these low rise jeans, and hmm… these shoes” She threw the items at me and I tried them on.

“This is good” I told her

“You look good” she said circling me “like girl next door meets hip 20 something year old”

“Good, its perfect”

After about another hour of wasting time at the mall I went home and got into my pajamas, threw my hair up, and took off my make up.

Brady and I were watching the celebrity gossip updates on Entertainment Television, when Glen came in with the pizza.

“Alright, we got 2 pies, an order of cheesy bread and a large coke” Glen announced as he laid the food on the table.

“Did you bring a movie?” I asked my mouth already full of pizza

“Yeah, we got Rudy, A League of Their Own, and Finding Nemo”

“Finding Nemo” I demanded.

Glen has been another surprising friend. He’s been coming over every Sunday night with take out and a movie. Last week it was Caddy Shack and Chinese food.

“So when does Ashley get back?”

“Tomorrow” I told him. “I’m going to set up a nice romantic dinner here for when I pick her up”

“And then you two will live happily ever after?”

I sighed and shrugged. “That or just really good sex”
