Tell Me Where it Hurts – (Chapter: Ch. 3 Grandma the Matchmaker)

    Spencer’s POV

When I got home, I went up to my room and started to unpack my stuff. I thought about Ashley and how emotional she got when she started to talk about her sister and her dad. At least she still has her siblings. Which brought me to it again. My personal hell that I had been through every day since it happened. The fire. The fire that would have never have happened if I wasn’t so stupid. If I would never of came home drunk that night and-

"Spencer! Can you come down here for a second?" My grandma yells up to me.

"Yeah, be down in a second!" I called back to her. I wiped the tear from my eye and went downstairs to see what she wanted.

"What do you need?" I asked her sitting on the couch across from the couch she was sitting on.

"Well, I’ve been thinking. And talking to one of my good friends. Well she has a granddaughter about your age, about a year older, I think. and considering your single. Your single right?"

"Yeah, grandma." I told her while looking at the TV. Grandma had always told me about the sitcoms they have over her. They are quite funny from what I’ve seen so far.

"Good, well she’s single too, and we just thought that the two of you would just hit it off." Grandma told me with a slight twinkle in her eye.

"Grandma, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I just got here and I don’t even have any friends yet, so I’m not really looking for that right now." I told her and she frowned at me.

"Aw, Spencer, she was looking forward to meeting you, though. She’s very pretty, long brown hair, pretty brown eyes, about your height. She’s smart, too, good grades, she’s in lots of clubs, she loves art and music, and I know you play that piano like there’s no other!" Grandma was right, I’ve played piano since I was four, and I don’t want to toot my own horn but, yeah, I’m pretty dang good. She was trying so hard to hook me up with this girl. What would it hurt anyway? If I went on one date with her. She does sound pretty cool. Sounds like we have a lot of things in common. Hey, if it doesn’t work out, maybe I’ll have a great friend. I guess this is a win-win situation.

"Fine. What’s her name?" I asked grandma and she grinned so wide that I thought her dentures were going to fall out.

"Her name is Lucy. Lucy Davies." I felt my stomach drop to the floor, and there was no turning back now. What would Ashley say when she found out. Oh, God this is not good.

"When and where?" I asked her.

"Let me call Christine, Lucy’s grandma, and we’ll work this out." She said practically skipping to the phone. She dialed the number and smiled when someone must have answered.

    "Christine, great news!" She said.

    "Yeah, she did."

    "Okay, when?"

    "Sounds good. Bye."

"Tomorrow night, at some restaurant. I can’t remember the name, but don’t worry nothing fancy, just dress casually."

"Okay." this is going to be interesting.
