The Least I Can Do – (Chap. 6)
When Spencer arrived home after her night with Ashley, she couldn’t stop smiling, she felt like a giddy school girl, she resisted the urge to jump around on her bed, she was so happy. She was curtain that was the best date she had ever been on, and couldn’t believe how passionate as well as how tender Ashley had been with her. She changed into a pair of sweat pants, and a beater and snuggled into her bed. She fell asleep with a smile on her face dreaming about a current stunning, charming and most of all sweet brunette.
Ashley lay in her large bed, staring at the ceiling, her mind wondering between thoughts of Spencer and thoughts of these new and scary feelings she was having. Ashley had always heard people talk about love and when she was in high school she always dreamed of having that someday. To have some to love and care for her more than themselves and for her to love and care for them more than her self, an unconditional kind of love that people search for all their lives. This was a dream Ashley had long since given up on, since the death of her mother. For many years after that Ashley sought out to feel nothing, she wanted to be numb, and numb it what she made herself, numb was what life had made her. Ashley was eventually able to dig her self out of that hole, with the help of her best friend Ben. They both had been down a path of pain and hopelessness, but together were able to turn things around. Now she was here, trying to give her self a new start, and then she meets Spencer, something she certainly wasn’t expecting to happen.
So she is lying in bed trying to sort these feels out. Never in her life had someone’s touch given her butterflies in her stomach, never had someone been able to take her breath away, never had she cared more about getting to know someone rather than having sex. All of these things scared Ashley very much, she wasn’t sure she was ready to feel again. Ashley endless jumble of thoughts was put to a halt, as she thought of Spencer’s eyes, and the passionate kisses they had shared. Ashley knew she was nothing sort of smitten with Spencer, and there was nothing to could do to fight it. She realized she didn’t want to fight it, she didn’t want to be numb anymore, she wanted to feel, really feel something for someone no matter how frightened she may be. It was a difficult decision for her head to make to let someone in, but her heart had made it for her, long before her head caught up. Now she just had to hope that Spencer felt that same way, she was going to try and make sure she did.
