Previously-

I slowly try to adjust my eyes to the brightness of the room. The pounding in my head gets worse each time I open them. My mouth is dry and I get a sour taste every time I swallow. I try to push myself up, but doing so makes me nauseous, so I lay back down. I feel like shit. I close my eyes and decide to just stay completely still a little longer.

I hear my name. It’s just a faint whisper, “Dylan”. The voice sounds familiar, like hers. I love it when she says my name. I hear her my name whispered again, “Dylan”. It sounds like she’s saying my name. It’s such a wonderful sound. My name sounds so beautiful when she says it. I miss hearing her say my name. I miss everything about her. I miss Helena so much I’m hear her saying my name in my sleep.

　

　

As I came into the living room, she was still in the same position I left her last night. At least she didn’t have to use the pot. That would have been an awful mess, I’m sure. And, I don’t think I would cook in that pot again had she needed it. My trash can from the bath would have been a better idea, hindsight.  At least she didn’t need it. 

Kneeling down in front of her, I whisper her name. I try twice but she only stirs slightly in her sleep. She’s still out cold. I’ll let her sleep a little longer. Ooh and when she wakes up she’s definitely going to need a shower.

I go into the kitchen and start making some breakfast. Toast and coffee. She’ll need something bland for her stomach and I’m not really that hungry. As I’m placing the bread in the toaster I hear my cell phone. I check the caller ID, it’s Alice. Who else would it be this early? I really don’t want to answer. I don’t need to hear her thoughts about last night, she made them perfectly clear then.
