    A Second Chance at Forever

"Time will tell Bette," Tina replied. "You’ve made some promises about showing me how you’ve changed. I’ve changed too, but maybe you won’t think it’s for the better."

"I look forward to finding out," Bette said. "However long it takes."

    Chapter 10

Tina saw Bette’s car pull up into the driveway. She knew when she could expect them – some things don’t change, no matter how much time passes. Bette was meticulous about many things, but arriving at an agreed upon time verged on the obsessive for her.

Tina opened the front door as they approached. She hugged Angie, but her attention was captured by the fact that Bette had come bearing gifts.

"You didn’t have to bring anything," Tina nodded towards the bags in Bette’s right hand.

"One is just a bottle of wine to have with dinner," Bette replied, crossing the threshold into the house. "The other is a little something for you. I thought you might like it."

"Do you have any homework tonight Angie?" Tina asked.

"I got everything done at school," Angie replied. "But I brought something to read…"

"Why don’t you relax with your book while Mommy and I are in the kitchen," Bette said.

"I’m going my room," Angie replied, making her way down the hallway.

"We’ll let you know when it’s time to eat," Tina called after her retreating form.

"Good to see lots of fresh vegetables ready to go," Bette said as she followed Tina into the kitchen. "It’s been a week of warmed up leftovers for us – not always the most nutritionally sound."

"I’m just waiting for the bar-b-cue to warm up to grill them," Tina said. "Plus I’ve had a lentil stew in the slow cooker all day."

"Sounds perfect," Bette drew the wine out of the bag and set it on the table.

"Bette," Tina said as she observed the label. "That’s a bit of a splurge."

"You know what today is, don’t you?" Bette asked.

"I do," Tina replied. "But I didn’t think you’d remember."

"How could I forget the anniversary of the day we met," Bette asked rhetorically. "It will always be one of the most important days of my life."

    1. Many fanfics go directly from the earring to the intimate encounter. ln yours, they talk and even remininsce. l’m loving the interaction between them. And yes, I just came back after being away for several years. It’s nice to see you here!

    2. Thanks for the update. No rush in moving this story along… Just saying. It’s a great story moving at its own pace as is there reconnection, even if its only in friendship… But hoping for more. It could happen that this time around they are ready for one another in their lives. Thanks…

    3. No need to hurry it along. There are so many stories out there that are quick to jump to the point, but I really love a slow build up, especially when it is as well written as your stories are. Keep them working to slowly rebuild their family!

    4. The story is wonderful at the pace you are taking it and there is NO NEED TO HURRY the pace, it’s great. Love how they are taking their time and having special moments and remembering their love before when they were younger and happy. Angie needs to see this also so she will know how her parents were before she was born. As she stated she hasn’t had the memories of seeing them together and very happy. Keep the pace and please keep posting this wonderful story. Thanks.

    5. Thanks JKS for the update!! :-) uhm… Did someone mentioned a slow cooker or a slow pace?! ;-) hehe… So far so good for me! ;-) so please proceed and continue :-) PPVS
