Chapter 42

Tina and Gillian drove down a beautiful tree covered road.

“Hey mom can we surprise Bette with dinner tonight?” Gillian asked. 

“I don’t know. Why?” Tina asked.

“Cause its Wednesday and Bette always works late on Wednesdays, and when she’s working she never stops to eat even when she works at home.” Gillian said.

“How do you know that?” Tina asked.

“I noticed it when you went to Orlando 2 months ago. Yeah I guess it was then.” Gillian said.

“Yeah we can. That’ll be nice. Where do you want to get food from?” Tina asked.

“Let’s get Chinese from that place that Bette likes to go to.” Gillian said.

“Okay.” Tina said.

Tina looked over at her daughter and saw just had much she had grown up in the past months. Maybe she was ready to go on tour with Madonna.

Tina and Gillian stood outside The Gallery. Gillian pressed the buzzer and held it.

“Gillian you don’t have to hold it down. She’ll come.” Tina said.

“I know but this is more fun.” Gillian said now hitting the buzzer repeatedly.

“Okay” Tina said laughing a little.

“I’m Coming!” Bette Yelled from the her office, but Gillian kept going now doing a beat of sorts.

“Gill she said she was coming.” Tina said.

“So.” Gillian said.

“I think you better stop.” Tina said.

“Okay.” Gillian said reluctantly and stopped.

“Jesus. What the fuck is the hurry?” She said as she flung the large navy blue door open.

“Wasn’t me” Gillian said raising her hands.

“I’m sure. I’ll deal with you later.” Bette said.

“We decided to surprise you with dinner.” Tina said.

“That’s so sweet. I haven’t had anything and I’m starving.” Bette said.

“Poor thing.” Tina said giving Bette a kiss. Gillian looked on smiling.

“What are you smiling about?” Bette asked.

“You guys.” She said and walked past them towards Bette’s office.

Bette and Tina looked at each other and then followed her.
