Alone in the Dark pt 1

As she walked along the uncharacteristically cold streets of LA, her head hung low, arms wrapped tightly around her upper body, not caring where she ended up, she thought bitterly of her mother. Of her mothers hearty laugh, caring smile, and welcoming arms. She thought of the same women who, only hours ago, told her to get out. To leave her home and not come back.

It was a new feeling for her, Rejection. It was the first time her mother ever said a word against her. Never before in all her 17 years of life had she seen such hatred in those brown eyes and if she had it was not amid at her.

She was the good daughter, the A student, beautiful and popular, yet humble, the kind of child any parent would be proud to call their own. She’d never done drugs or gotten into any trouble, always looking out for her younger siblings and never went against her mothers word. So when she had gone to her mother in confidence and told her she was gay, it bewildered her to no end, why all of the sudden her mother would look at her as if she had just admitted to killing someone.

She had foreseen yelling, fighting maybe even the silent treatment as her mothers reaction to the news but not this, she had spent the last two hours wondering the streets trying to understand why she had been thrown out, wondering why her mother wouldn’t except her. But in the end no answer came and all she could do was fight off the tears that had been steadily falling down her face.

As she continued her way down the streets of LA, she began to wonder where she was supposed to go. She had only grabbed a few changes of cloths and her saving before leaving the warm confinds of her home. It was now starting to get dark and her stomach growled. She sighed, her mother always had dinner on the table by now.

When she finally looked up she was surprised to see she had walked all the way to the beach. She loved it there, but she knew that at night it wasn’t the safest place, so she turned around to find a place to stay. But stopped short when she bumped into someone walking out of the ally way.
