An Attempt ch. 4
At the Lakers Game. Lakers Vs. Knicks
Alice and Stephen enter the already crowded Staple Center. Stephen wore something casual. Not too over dressy for a first date, and not at all too casual for the game. He looked very neat with his clean cut hair and polished sneakers. Alice on the other hand went a little overboard with the outfit.
At first back at her apartment, she had originally decided to wear the matching outfit of the true Laker girl fan, which was a tight yellow short shorts that hugs all the corners of your ***** and the ***** yellow fitted top Kobe jersey.
But Dana came over just in time to save Alice the embarrassment and hid the shorts on her way out. So Alice settled with the top jersey and jeans. But little did Dana know, Alice still had her big yellow foam hand from a year ago. And she had also painted the right side of her cheek with Kobes number 8 in yellow with white and purple borders.
Before they went to their seats, they decided to grab their food on the way in. They stood in the long line of MacDonalds which seems to be everywhere you turn with a line of people in front of it.
Alice: So this would be the big dinner first date. You scared?
Stephen: Not if you get the Big Mac.
Alice: Whats wrong with the Big Mac? I eat that all the time.
Stephen: Get out of here?! Really?
Alice: I would, but the game hasnt begun. And I want to see Jack.
Stephen: Oh but I dont think Jacks here tonight. Its just an exhibition game.
Alice: You mean, its not for real? Theyre just playing for fun and not the money?!
Stephen: Are you sure youre a writer not a comedian?
Alice: How do you know that I dont write comedy?
Stephen: Thats why Im here to find out.
Alice: Smoooooth Steeeeve.
Stephen: Stephen.
Alice: You didnt lemme finish.
Stephen: Ok.
Alice: Nnnnnn…….
Stephen lets out laugh and ordered two Big Macs, 2 fries, and 2 vanilla shakes. They made their way inside the big coliseum filled with fans and the players are already prepping for the game. Their seats where located about 10 feet from the actual court, in the third row and Alice was ecstatic, but kept her cool as though shes been this close to see the game before.
Alice: Is that with the V?
Stephen: What?
Alice: Your name…is it spelled the normal way, S-T-E-V-E-N or the weird way with the P-H?
Stephen: Im sorry to say, but its spelled the weird way.
Alice: Ahhhh
Stephen: Yeah. You couldnt tell me why that is, can you?
Alice: Why is what and what???
Stephen: Why the weird way my name is spelled is the same pronunciation as the normal way its spelled?
Alice: Oh. You must be mistaken. You see…Im a writer…not teacher.
The game started. They made small talks about likes and dislikes when there referee blew his whistle. Alice was really enjoying the game and so was Stephen. The date is going really well and the game is quite exciting. Lakers are ahead by 5 points.
Half Time. The Laker Girls dominate the floor and started grinding and flapping their cheering hands. They were all very enthusiastic and Alice couldnt help but stare and so did everyone else.
But Alice stared only harder, this time to this tall brunette who was smiling and staring back at her.
Alice in a subtle whisper: Eat my ***** *****…
Stephen: What was that?
Alice: I said, I need to eat my frenchie sticks…thats what I call French fries…I had a very unique childhood.
Alice continued to stare at the girl while stuffing her mouth with the frenchie sticks. She seemed familiar, but Alice couldnt remember where she had seen her from before. And then it hit her…she’s the girl who also checked both of the gender preferred box.
