Jo slipped into the house only moments before Bette came waltzing in.  Jo was just taking off her shoes, “Where did you go?  Were you out riding that damnable bike again?”

Jo blinked, her blue eyes narrowing, “Ummm, non.”  Bette had harped on Jo for almost half an hour a few days ago about her riding her bike in her weakening state.

“Where did you go?” asked Bette trying to keep that condescending tone out of her voice, but she knew by Jo’s face that she was in the verge of pissing of her girlfriend.  Bette had been trying to keep her emotions at bay, but day by day, Bette felt like she was losing Jo.  She knew it was true, Jo was going to die, unless she fulfilled the odd vision she’d had when she’d handled the sphere.

“Across the street….,” muttered Jo, licking her dry lips, feeling that weight lifted off her, knowing that Bette would be ok when she died.  “Where did you go?” shot back Jo with a serious tone.  “Why did it take you so long?  Where is the food?  What did you get?” Jo barraged Bette with questions her tone not so playful, but with a hint of sarcasm on her French laden voice.

“Hey!” said Bette then seeing that Jo was trying to push a point across.  “I went to The Planet; I met up with Helena and Amy…”  Jo’s eyebrows shot up at the mention of her ex’s name.  “I invited them over, and then I called Spencer and told her to bring the girls over if she wanted too.  While I was calling Spencer, Lara came outside; did you know that Carmen is missing?  Anyway, she’s coming over with Amy and Helena, and then I called Alice…”

“Did you call the world too?” grumbled Jo.

Bette didn’t really understand that being around people was tiring for her; in fact, Jo felt the control on her remaining powers starting to fade and it was difficult to keep them pulled in.  She’d begun getting blurbs of images and thoughts right before waking and going to sleep.  So painful were these sudden intrusions, that two nights before, she’d forced herself to stay awake until Bette had begun to stir, because the images had been coming from Bette.

    1. 30 pages and you end it there!!?? This was great as always, although I do admit that with so many characters sometimes I have to stop and try to remember who they all are. lol This must have taken days and days to write, so thank you. :) So, is “droll” a good thing?

    2. That was a great update. It was fun to see the crowd together. Hope Jo is ok. Lots of questions about Jo still to be answered. Will she survive. How does her powers transfer from one person to another. Will Bette save her, hopefully without harming herself. So many questions. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

    3. Ah, damn. This doesn’t look good at all. Everything seems like it’s going to a very hot place in a very small basket. And you’ve left it on such a cliffhanger too. No, Janet, I don’t want a big shake up (actually, I’m a liar. I crave them, the story’s not the same without them, but I just don’t want anyone– read: Jo –dying.) Nat’s a bright spot though… she intrigues me. Loved the chapter, post soon. Cheers, Janet

    4. So glad I waited until this morning to read, cause you threw the whole clan at us , & I def. needed to concentrate on all the characters cause my mind was mush last night. Hope you write in the recording session w/ the girls & Daisy, seems like trouble there. Will Nat get w/ anyone? I can’t blame Bette for hovering, who wouldn’t if someone they loved were dying – even if they are as proud & independent as Jo. Luv the mingling of everyone w/ no fights breaking out only snarky comments. Thanx for the long post.
