Don’t Say a Thing – Sequel to Falling At Your Feet – Ch 2
Bette Porter was standing in front of the school building. She remembered spending her days there as if it were yesterday. She had hated the place and frankly, Tina had been a great motivation to keep going. The school seemed to have changed a lot during the years, as had Bette. There were separate buildings that clearly belonged to the school, it had expanded. There were more benches, picknick tables and trees than she could remember. She held her hand above her eyes to block the sun. She had changed herself, she too had expanded. She had had so many experiences during her long trips, crisscrossing the country. She had met a lot of new people, seen places… but she had never returned here. She just couldn’t. There were too many memories, but most importantly, there was Tina.
She didn’t know how life had treated the love of her life. She didn’t know how Tina felt towards her – still sad, angry, indifferent? She didn’t know if Tina wanted to see her. She had sent a lot of letters, but had never received an answer. She had tried to look up her phone number, but after all those years, she didn’t have the guts to call her. If she didn’t answer her letters, it meant that she didn’t want to talk to her. The phone number was written down on a piece of paper. Bette had spent hours just looking at it, wondering what she would do. She always decided against it, afraid of Tina’s reaction. She wouldn’t be able to deal with a cold Tina that wasn’t interested, and there was a signifant chance Tina would be like that.
But a week ago, she had made up her mind. She had travelled for so long, but always avoided Los Angeles, her home town. She had met so many interesting people, but now it was time to catch up with the people of her past, one person in particular. The years had passed and had treated her well. She graduated at NYU, with art history as a major. She had had a lot of chances to visit galleries everywhere and learn. Eventually, she had opened her own gallery, CHRISK. The place was succesful and Bette made good money. In New York, she was totally different than she had been in LA. The contrast between the shy teenager she was and the cocky, self-assured woman she had become was amazing. She had taken on a new personality. Women were throwing themselves at her feet. With some of them she slept, with others she had a committed relationship. But her heart was never with them. Her heart had remained in her hometown, she had rested it in Tina’s hands. And she was too scared to go and see what Tina had done with it. Had she thrown it away or has she cherished it? The chance that the first option was true would break Bette, and she didn’t want that.

I wonder if Tina received any of Bette’s letters. I know she was heartbroken when she left, but why didn’t she ever write back? It’s so sad that Tina has lost her glow…I hope Bette knows how to restore it!

Hi Genner! This is gonna be a wonderful story. I love the reconciliations. Can’t wait for the next part. Post Soon Please! :)I already love this.
Hey Genner, Great meeting between the gang. Giving some of Bette’s reaseons for staying away for so long and now having the courage to return were insightful. It will be interesting to read what happens next. Bette and Tina are two havles of the same soul and have a connection that cannot be denied. They both have grown up a lot in the years apart but will togetherness re-ignite the flame… I do hope so. Tina may be a mom but her heart belongs to one Bette Porter. And the same is true for Bette, Tina keeps her most precious organ beating. More please. Many thanks for this wonderful writing. Your Loyal Fan.
you are doing great job sweetie! it is great so much combination of feelings like sorrow, love, passion. They are making your story more recognizable and it made me think how would it be like to meet the beloved person after so much time had passed. great Idea -Thank you and waiting without doubt next long chapters.
