Feeling safe and wanted again – Chapter 24

    Chapter TwentyFour

A few days later, they were ready to leave Chapel Hill and drive up to Nashville. Bette had rented a truck to store all of Tina’s things into. The place where she rented it also had a place in Nashville, so she could just deliver it there the next day as planned.

When it came to Tina’s car, Maryann and Michael would watch over it. They parked it in their garage for the time being until Tina was ready to drive for 9 hours without her hip hurting.

It was time for goodbyes. Maryann was holding Evan close. She’s grown to love him like she was her own. Michael had said his goodbye the night before, because he had to be in court all day from 7 o’clock in the morning. Tina gave Megan a hug and thanked her for her help with Evan.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t continue as your teacher.” Tina says. “I’m going to miss you guys so much.” Tina says as a few tears slips down her cheek.

“Don’t worry about us. We’ll get a temp for the reminder of the year I guess. No one can replace you though. You’re the best teacher I’ve ever had.” Megan admits as she dries a few stray tears.

“Thank you, that’s nice to hear.” Tina says and give her one big hug more. Then Tina walks over to Maryann. Bette comes in and takes Evan so Maryann and Tina can hug without crushing little Evan.

“I’m gonna miss you too. You’ve all been so kind to me, I can’t really thank you enough.” Tina says as she’s crying openly now.

“Shh, you would’ve done the same for us. You’re part of our family now, whether you and Bette work out or not. You can always count on us, okay?” Maryann says.

“Thank you so much. You guys have just in a few weeks become my family and I wouldn’t want to trade it in for anything. I’m eternal grateful to all of you. And you Bette, I’m out of words soon. I’ve grown to love you a lot, if that is the love we both want to feel towards each other, I don’t know yet, but I do love you. You saved my life and for that I’ll always love you.” Tina says as she wipes her eyes.
Bette shifts Evan over to the side as she pulls Tina close with her now free arm and pulls her into a warm hug.

    1. Thank you for posting another chapter! I love this story! I think Tina just needs to settle in to a new routine and then she’ll have time to sort through her feelings. No need to rush!

    2. Oh please please please don’t make T feeling only friendly feelings toward Bette…some drama is ok, even the separation…but don’t be meanie!! Please!:))) Tnx for posting, we’ll be waiting for next one;) PS. you’re really stretching it with no physical conn…you tease;))

    3. Oh No, Tina’s fears may have Bette taking a step back, and if she does not tell Bette they can have a future, Tina may end up watching Bette date other women. That will be hard, but understandable on Bette’s behalf. But I also think that Tina does need some time to re-group after all that she has been through with Eric, and taking care of herself and baby Evan is all that she can handle right now. I am looking forward to the next post. Don’t make me wait too long.

    4. No, Tina she doesn’t mean not see each other anymore, just giving you a little breathing room so you can understand your feelings for Bette. Tina, needs to understand that Bette would not abandon her in a strange city. Tina must be a little careful in how she states things to Bette and she also needs to think a little deeper about Bette. She doesn’t know it but she is about to have the best love and care she has ever had in her life. Great update. Thanks for posting.

    5. Hey Lauren, nooooooooooooooo!!! Bette and Tina must be together. I can understand Bette’s thinking her but delivery is more like a rejection. Please continue soon and make things right between these gals. Many thanks for this shock. Your Loyal Fan

    6. So glad you’re back – I’ve missed this story. You write Tina so well – she’s probably terrified that if she can’t love Bette back more than platonically, she’ll lose her as a friend. I can’t imagine how panicked that must make her feel. She’s holding up really well, and Bette is sensitive enough to reassure her. Also – how sweet is Bette – she’s made herself vulnerable to Tina, yet knows it may not pan out. A great friend. PPS!
