For the Love of You, Revisited post 20

Bette started to hyperventilate.  She stood in her underwear her garter hanging from her hips and the air in the room started to disappear.  What if she screwed up again?  Tina would walk out of her life forever.  She was about to commit herself to one woman forever.  She was going to stand before God and pledge her fidelity.  She was going to pledge herself to Tina before all their family and friends.

Tina was back.  Tina loved her again.  Did Tina really love her enough to deal with all her faults? What if she failed her again in some fundamental way?  Could she survive losing her again?  Did she deserve her? Did Tina really know her?

The questions began to repeat and she began to pace furiously.  She poured a glass of cold water and her hands shook so furiously she spilled half of it on the way to her mouth.

Kit stepped silently into the room and she did not need to ask if Bette were ok she was shaking like a leaf and had half drowned herself with the glass of water she struggled to drink.

“What’s going on baby sis?” Kit smoothed the hair from her face and took the glass Bette was in danger of dropping from her.  She held her until Bette stopped shaking.

“I am scared to death” Bette said after a time.  Her sister’s solid comforting embrace settled her.

“You want to call off the wedding?”

Shane walked in at that moment. “If you call off this wedding I think you should be prepared to leave the country.  I think you might be safe in the brush of New Zealand.  I know a couple of women there who might…might, I repeat protect you.  Still it would be a long shot.”

“I do not want to call off the wedding” Bette stated irritably.  “I’m just a little jittery.  You know.  Am I good enough for Tina?  Can I make her happy?  Will I screw up the best thing that ever happened to me?  Can I live without her in my life?”

“Bette, Tina adores you.  You are the only woman, strike that, you are the only person who can make Tina happy, truly happy.  All you have to do is look in her eyes.” Shane shook her head in wonder.  How she wondered could Bette doubt that she was right for Tina.

    1. Music to my ears “Tina is the daddy.” I thought Kit might faint out of disbelieve for a minute there. Bette can’t escape Tina now even if she wanted to. Sharing a child especially a blood child forever binds them. I can’t wait to see how Tina reacts when Bette is in labor and the realization hits that Bette is getting ready to have her child.

    2. Awesome…I’m totally enthrawled with the whole premise of this story. The wedding is going to be beautiful because you’re writing it Kelika and then when it comes time for the baby…it is going to be really ineteresting.

    3. Gotta say I’m still after all this time trying to wrap my mind around Tina being the dad, but I love it, and that was just perfect to see Bette freakin’ out,,,wonder how Tina is doing? PPS:)

    4. Although you feel you’ve married B&T enough already, your writing is so captivating and fresh that it always feels like the first time I’m reading it. As for the song… love Sarah McLachlan and was thinking maybe her song Ice Cream. Not conventional, but a great song. Thanks for the post and have a good week!

    5. Kelika, love the story and can not say enough good things about it and the way you are writing it. You know I have always wanted you to have them married legally and now that Calif has passed the law they can get married legally and the baby would be legal in every sense of the word. Song, I will keep my thinking hat on but the Anne Murray song would be beautiful and most appropriate. An old saw, but another appropariate and expresses so much love is “Your Precious Love” by Jerry Butler, the Iceman himself. Listen to it if you don’t know it and I think you might agree. I’ll keep thinking.

    6. I am excited that Bette is going to fight through her fears and marry the women/father of her child. It is going to a beautiful wedding because it has taken them so long to actually go through with it.

    7. Bette sharing her fears of failure with Kit and Shane was wonderful. I love how close they are and how they can trust one another. Glad they could get Bette back into her Alpha shape and ready to walk down the aisle and claim the life she deserves.

    8. Love the reference to NZ. So how might u need me if Bette goes crazy??? I think/hope she goes crazy on loving Tina on their wedding nite!!!! That’s all the craziness T needs. Great writing as usual. PPS.

    9. With same sex maariage now a reality, it will be an amazing day for lesbian couples when it will be possible for them to biologically both be the parents….Sooo, this revisit is gonna be longer than the original, huh – how dare you!?! ;) Of course we want a wedding…there are SO many songs that I feel can tie into B&T…. lucybelly like your suggestion of SM’s “Ice Cream,” that’s always been a fave of mine, for a more serious tune, her “Answer” is great….it’s a tad melancholy perhaps, but Sheryl Crow’s “I Shall Believe”….Jack Johnson’s “No Other Way” is simply sweet….Ben Harper has two I love, “Happy Everafter In Your Eyes” (though I can also see that as parent to child), but really love his “Waiting For You”….then of course I will forever be a sucker for The Beatles “Something.”

    10. Wow, it’s the best thing that I ever heard, Tina is the daddy, and I love how nervous Bette is, and comforting and reassuring her friends are, they are going to be wonderful together, I have no doubt about that. I can’t wait for them to see each other in their wedding gowns, Thank you darling, keep posting. Love

    11. Wonderful post missy.Me like.I say any Sarah song could fit. I Love You or Ice Cream even Answer which is somewhat sad. How about I Will Remember You. See my bias towards my singer shows. Whatever song you pick would be perfect.

    12. I am so loving this!!!! For a song I was thinking IT’S YOUR LOVE, BY Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, or a song from Bette to Tina is I am, by Bon Jovi Thanks K

    13. another great chapter.my choice for the wedding song is SPEND MY LIFE WITH YOU by Eric Benet & Tamia & I Could Not Ask For More by Edwin McCain
