    Friendship Foundation Chapter 26

"What did you do?" Tina spied the elaborately decorated table as she walked in. "We’re not going out for dinner?"
"I thought instead of one of us having to drive, we could enjoy a home cooked meal here," Bette said.
    "You prepared all this?"
"No, I just walked in the door about half an hour ago," Bette admitted. "But our meal is staying warm in the oven, and I’ve already decanted a bottle of your favorite wine if you’d like to get more comfortable."
"This is much better than trying to get to a reservation after such a crazy week," Tina sighed. "I almost phoned to see if you wanted to order something instead of going out."
"It would appear we had the same idea then," Bette said. She reached for Tina’s overnight bag and offered her a quick kiss on the lips. "A relaxing start to the weekend."
"Sounds perfect," Tina replied. "How long do I have before dinner is served?"
"How’s an hour?" Bette asked. "Join me in the living room after you’ve changed and I’ll pour us some wine."
Tina changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt before returning. She sat beside Bette, but faced her with her legs crossed, resting with her side against the back of the couch. She brought her hands up on either side of Bette’s face and leaned closer for a proper greeting.
"Good idea to stay in tonight," Tina said. "People stare when public displays of affection escalate."
Their lips met, and they were soon distracted from any talking. Tina leaned back on the arm of the couch and pulled Bette over her.
"I missed you this week," Tina said.
"Even though we woke up together yesterday, I missed you too," Bette said.
"At least we don’t live very far apart," Tina offered.
"I’m glad the later start to my work day lets me get up with you when I stay over," Bette said. "If we have a midweek sleepover, it only makes sense to be at your place."
"You don’t have to host me every weekend," Tina said. "I appreciate that you might want some time to yourself."

    1. That’s quite a start to a weekend and quite a way to put the double standard to rest!! Ah, the luxury of having a weekend stretch before you full of promise. Hope you have a good one and thanks for the update.

    2. what a hot chapter and a very hot tina. i like how Tina stands up to bette. It’s very true how it’s only when one is crazy about another that simple thing like meeting an ex does matter. they are so sweet together.

    3. Did that count as a fight? They handled it pretty well, at any rate, with no one’s feelings being trod on. And how they spent the rest of the evening should hopefully abate any feelings of jealousy. Thanks for posting and have a great weekend. :)

    4. Glad to see Tina hold her ground. She seems to have struck the right chord about the double standard, firm but not bitchy or petty. This was the first little bit of discomfort brought into this story and it could have been overblown. They are serious b/c they didn’t let it get out of hand.

    5. Haven’t been commenting recently, but have been faithfully reading! Just haven’t had much new to add to the heaps of praises. Thoroughly enjoying the story so far!

    6. Huh…thought there was a fight coming but they handled that disagreement “swimmingly”. Yes it’s a double standard but I see why Bette would be jealous of Tina and Eric being friends and not even seeing how that mirrors her own relationship with Alice. Thanks for the weekend update.

    7. So this is the sequel to the Up-All- Night, Best Weekend Ever. Gosh, they’re both insatiable! Even when one says “enough,” they just keep going on and on until they both pass out of exhaustion. :D I love the last paragraph’s reference to the iconic porch scene in the pilot episode, when they were relaxing, reading the paper while sipping coffee after a night of passion and Shane came by and commented on their lasting love. That was a great scene, made even more memorable by Damien Rice’s “Cannonball”. There was also a similar but less memorable morning after scene in Season 6 when their chat with Shane shifted to the topic of eerie Jenny. Thanks for the inadvertent trip down memory lane and this lovely story! I love this story to bits, jks, though I don’t get to say it every time you post. Please write on. Cheers! =)

    8. Great update Swimmie. Glad they got over their little disagreement smoothly and quickly while pointing out what could become detrimental to a loving relationship if left unspoken. Happy Tina pointed out Alice in the mix. Tina is always awesome. Thanks for posting and have a great weekend.

    9. Classic silent reader here, going briefly un-quiet to say I’ve been quietly enjoying each new chapter to date. I particularly like the dialogue and the mature character development for both Bette and Tina. I rarely comment because I typically like to read fan fiction the old-fashioned way, as one might read a novel, without communication with the author except in the recesses of my imagination. But then, it’s fun to break old habits once in a while! Thanks for a most enjoyable and engrossing story.

    10. Not a consistent commenter either but definitely still reading faithfully :) Can I just say that this version of Tibette is my absolute favourite. It’s a realistic version of the progression of a relationship and I think you’re not afraid to show the very human aspects of it, including the fighting, the confusion, the emotions and yes, the sex. I think my biggest takeaway from this story thus far is that I want to someday find a relationship like this! Thanks JKS :)

    11. Thanks for the update and kudos to you for discussing the double standard between Eric and Alice. No one has ever brought that up to my knowledge and yet I think it is something to be explored. You see there is plenty left in the tank for these two.
