Six months after the incident Bette was lying down on her bed alone. Tina was visiting her parents. She was planning on telling them about her and Bette. Bette volunteered to go with her but she said she would like to do this on her own.

“Mommy, can I come in?” Angelica asked as she stood at the door.

“Hey, Angel. Yes come on in baby and lie down here with me. We haven’t’ done this for so long huh?”

“Are you okay? Are you and Miss Tina okay?” Angelica asked jumping on the bed and lying down next to Bette.

“Yes, sweetie. Everything’s okay.”

“Is Ms. Tina coming back? I miss her.”

“Yes she is. She has just gone back to visit her parents. She wanted to tell them about us.”

“Does this mean you guys are going to get married?” Angelica asked excitedly.

“Married?”

“Yeah you love Ms. Tina right and she has gone back home to see her parents. It means you’re going to get married right?”

“No, not really but you’re ok if I asked her to marry me?”

Angelica nodded. “Can I call her mama Tee?”

Bette laughed “We’ll talk about that later when Tina’s here ok, you can ask her yourself?”

Bette loves Angelica so much, like she would love her own daughter if she had given birth to her. When they decided to have a baby about nine and a half years ago Julie volunteered to be the one who carries the baby because she wanted Bette to just focus on her job. When she died Angelica was only two and a half years old. She was devastated; she didn’t want Angelica to grow up not knowing who her real mother was, so every night for the past seven years Bette would tell Angelica about Julie.

“Mommy, can you tell me about mom one last time just like old times.”

“Okay so what do you want to know?’ Bette asked while tickling Angelica who’s trying hard to fight back.

“Tell me how you met mom?”

“Okay I met your mom in high school, I fell in love with her the first time I saw her. We became friends and we got married after we graduated.”

“Mommy, I understand if you want to ask Ms. Tina to marry you.”

“You do?” Bette asked.

“Uh huh.” Angelica nodded “Because when I stayed at Uncle Tim’s house he said if two people love each other, they should live together and get married.”

“You love Ms. Tina right mommy?” Angelica asked looking straight into her eyes.

“Yes Angie, I love Ms. Tina so much.”

“Then ask her to marry you!” Angelica said while giggling.

One month later Bette made a decision to move to another town to start a new life with Angelica and Tina. She proposed to Tina soon after she came back from her parent’s house. Tina was so happy to accept Bette’s proposal. They’re now living in a new house with three bedrooms.

“No, Bette that box goes straight to the kitchen.”

“What Tee? It’s the same why can’t I just put it here.”

“If you put it here you have to move it again, see it says KITCHEN. So it belongs in the kitchen.”

“Mama! I want you to meet someone her name is Lola. Come mama quick.” Angelica said while pulling Tina away from unpacking her stuff and dragging her to the living room.

“Hi Lola, it’s nice to meet you. My name is Tina.” Tina said while she shook Lola’s hands. She was the same age as Angelica and that made Tina really happy, knowing that Angelica had finally found a friend that could play with her.

“That’s my mommy and this is my mama Tee,” Angelica said while pointing at Tina.

“They’re going to get married soon.” She said while giggling. “Can I go and play with Lola mama?”

“Sure baby but don’t go too far ok?”

“What’s that all about Tee?” Bette emerged from the kitchen into the living room and pulled Tina towards their big couch.

“Baby, we’re not done unpacking yet!”

“That can wait Tee, but not this one.” Bette said while pulling Tina into a passionate kiss.

“I love you Tina Kennard.”

“And I love you too, so much Better Porter!”
