“Let me get this straight here you’re Nylan’s mother…and you had ***** with Bette…oh my god Tina you cheated on Nylan with your wife” Alice blurted the last part out and Shane rolled her eyes ‘*****’ she thought as she turned to see Kayla’s eyes glaring at Tina. Dana tapped Alice behind her head and mouth ‘nice going’. The doctor watched the whole scenario unfold before his eyes.

“You’re sleeping with Nylan…that’s why she came back here to live out some crush she’s had on you since she’s known you. I should have known Nylan…she just can’t keep her hands out of the cookie jar” Kayla folded her arms as she spoke to Tina and watching her with a scornful glare.

“You just said that you and Nylan are not together…you left her she didn’t leave you” Tina responded with confidence not backing down from Kayla.

“I don’t want to fight this is not the time nor the place to discuss this matter so let’s just deal with this first” Kayla said calmly and Tina agreed.

“I have to tell her the truth Bette…she has to wake up so she can know the truth” Kit sobbed as she fell into her sister’s arms.

*Flashback*

“I don’t want this kid Kit I have a wife and kids…I’m a well respected man in this business I can’t ruin my image” he said. Kit couldn’t believe what he had just said, she began to cry and shake with anger.

“It doesn’t matter what you want I’m keeping my baby okay and there is nothing you can do to stop me” Kit turned to walk away but he stopped her dead in her tracks with his words.

“You listen to me and you listen to me good…I made you Kit and I can break you…now you choose your career or your baby and choose wisely” he was harsh in his delivery but Kit listened intently to his words because she knew she had to make that decision.

*End of Flashback*


“How come you didn’t ever tell her…I mean you sat around all these years and you seen Nylan every day and you never told her…do you know the ***** she went through with her parents, she hated her life. You could have helped her Kit but you sat by and watched her self destruct right in front of your face” Shane was angry at the fact Kit had hidden the truth for so many years.

“I wanted to tell her Shane but I was ashamed of what I did and I lived with that for so many years its what drove me to drinking and I’m sad that Nylan had to go through so much *****” Kit was still crying as she spoke to Shane.

“You choose your career over being a mother to Nylan” Shane stared at Kit before she turned and walked away.

“Excuse me Ms. Porter but did you say you were an alcoholic” Dr. Reynolds asked.

“Recovering” Kit answered.

“I don’t think you will be able to donate a kidney Ms. Porter I’m sorry” he responded.

“Well who are the other two matches” Dana asked.

“Uh…that would be a Ms. Lara Perkins and Bette Porter” they both looked up astonished at the results, “now what you all have to do is make a decision who will donate the kidney”. Everyone went back to their seats to try to come up with an answer while Kayla went to check on Shane, she left Isiah with Kit.

“Do you know who I am” Kit asked Isiah as he sat in her lap feeling totally comfortable with the group of women.

“Kit” Kit nodded.

“Yes but I’m also your mommy’s mother so do you know what that makes me” Isiah grinned and nodded rapidly.

“My grandma” Kit kissed his cheek and he returned the favor, “and that’s my Auntie Dana and Alice and Tina and Bette Mommy told me so when we looked at her big book of pictures”they smiled at Isiah cuteness and he leaned over to whisper in Kit’s ear but everyone could still hear him, “I think Auntie Alice is pretty”. Dana raised her eyebrow at Isiah as Alice jumped to her feet and picked up Isiah from Kit’s lap placing him on hers, he blushed at the gesture.

Shane was sitting outside on the ground with her knees pulled up to her chest. Kayla plopped down beside her and waited for Shane to start the conversation.

“I can’t believe Kit…all of the years that I’ve known her and she never breathed a word to me nor anyone else its like she never cared about Nylan and that makes her just a bad a person as Nylan’s so called parents” Kayla rubbed Shane’s back trying to comfort her friend, “Hey look I’m sorry you had to find out about Nylan and Tina like that I know its not easy for you”.

“Nylan just sleeps with those other women to make herself feel good about who she is and when it doesn’t happen she searches for another one and as much as I tell her I love her the more she pulls away. But if she’s stuck with Tina for this long…I don’t know…maybe Tina has taught Nylan something I could never do and thats how to love”.

“My niece” Bette sighed, “I can’t believe it all this time you’ve been letting us fight and you never thought we should know” she yelled at Kit.

“Bette I know you’re upset but we all are trying to deal with this but right now we have to make a decision…who’s going to donate their kidney” Tna pleaded with them both. They all turned their attention over to Isiah who was still sitting in Alice’s lap, a decision had to be made if not for theirs than it had to be for him.

“Are you and Auntie Dana going to get married like my mommies” Dana and Alice looked at each other suddenly unable to speak, “when you do you can have a baby and he will be special just like me, my Mommy say I’m special because I have two mommies and God only picks special people like me” he pointed to himself, “because some people don’t have mommies at all when their little babies like me”. Alice and Dana’s eyes welled up with tears,’how could such a small person’s words be so inspirational’ they thought. The doctor returned to the group to hear their decision.

“Dr. Reynolds can we see her please” Kit begged. He looked around at the group, all of their hearts aching for their friend and he felt his heart melt within his own chest.

“I guess I can make an exception but two at a time and no children” they nodded. Shane walked back in with Kayla head resting on her shoulder, they were there for each other just like when they were kids and nothing could change that. Shane approached Kit and stood for a moment before Kit pulled her close and squeezed her tightly.

Kit and Bette walked in Nylan’s room and Kit almost fainted at the sight of her. She was hooked up to every type of machine you could imagine; Nylan was bruised from head to toe. Kit grabbed her hand and began to speak.

“I know I haven’t been there for you Nylan and I wanted to believe me but when this is all over it’ll be a new beginning…I promise” Kit kissed Nylan’s cheek and let Bette step up.

“Well this changes everything…I remember the other night when you said you wanted me to accept you and Tina…I shook your hand but I didn’t mean it but when you wake up everything’s going to be different” a tear rolled down Bette’s cheek and she squeezed her hand. What Bette wasn’t expecting was for Nylan to squeeze back.

“She squeezed back Kit…she’s fighting it” Bette kissed Nylan’s hand and they walked out and in walked Dana and Alice. Dana took in the sight of Nylan and ran back out with tears streaming down her face, Tina walked in.

Nylan’s Psyche

“I love you Nylan” Nylan saw a flash of every woman’s face she ever slept and then suddenly her mother appeared.

“They all loved you but couldn’t love them because you are uncapable of loving Nylan” Nylan shook her head no, “And the few women you actually care about leave because they figure out that you’re just a lost cause, an unfeeling person and it will never change”.
