When Dana finally got home the tears were still fresh on her face. She couldn’t believe that she had confessed to Shane how she felt. She was embarrassed and worried how she could ever face her again. Just then she heard another car pull up in the driveway and she immediately panicked. She didn’t know what she would say if it were Shane and she certainly didn’t want her too see her like this.

Alice approached Dana’s door still fuming from being left at the bar. She knocked and right away all her anger was forgotten when she saw Dana. She looked so scared and Alice could tell she had been crying. As Alice pulled Dana to her fresh tears appeared in her eyes and spilled down her beautiful face.

“Oh my God Dana, what’s wrong? What happened?” asked Alice concerned.

Dana sobbed “I don’t know, after you went to the bathroom Shane and I started talking and then Shane kissed me and we went to the parking lot and she started kissing me again but I freaked out and left and now I’m sure she hates me”

Alice is momentarily speechless while trying to process this information and only manages a stunned “ok” before she realizes that this is a real life crisis and she has to intervene.

“Dane, how do you feel about Shane, I only ask because obviously this exchange that occurred between you two tonight has gotten you very upset and quite frankly, I just want to know cause this is very….interesting.”

SHANE

I can’t wait, I need to tell her tonight. If I’d only known she felt this way about me I would have approached her along time ago. I can’t lose her before I’ve even had a chance to show her how I feel. W

With this Shane pulls a U-turn and begins to head to Dana’s house, rehearsing in her mind everything she wants to say, everything she’s wanted to say for the longest time but never had the courage. Tonight was going to be the night that Shane finally told someone she loved them.

DANA’S

“I’ve had a crush on Shane since the first day I met her. But I never told anyone because she’s Shane. The one who doesn’t do relationships, so what would have been the point”.

“Dana did you guys talk in the parking lot at all?”

“Yes, I told her that what happened was a mistake and that I didn’t want to be another one night stand to her.”

“Did you let her say anything?”

“No, I got in my car and drove off right after that.”

“Well you see Dane, this makes for a very awkward situation.”

“I know Alice!”

“Whoa, settle down there, I’m just saying is all. Look, you need to talk to Shane about how you feel and how she feels. This may shock you, but it’s possible she feels the same way about you.”

“Really?”

“Um, Yeah, and besides, if she doesn’t feel the same way, at least you’ll be able to salvage your friendship, ok?”

“Your right, I need to talk to Shane, thank you Alice.”

“Hey, no problem, and by the way if you ever leave me a bar again I’m going to kick your *****.”

With this Alice finally got Dana to smile, and as the two shared a chuckle Alice pulled Dana to her for a hug. When they finally broke apart Alice took Dana’s face in her hands and said

“Dana, I want you to be happy, so go get her.”

This time it was Dana that pulled Alice to her and kissed her on the cheek. As Dana was holding Alice she looked behind her and saw Shane standing in the doorway, but before she could break the embrace and call out to her she was gone, having seen the exchange between Alice and Dana and not waiting for an explanation.
