    CHAPTER 24

     

     

    Bette watched through her front window as Jodie Lerner made her way up the drive.  In mere seconds she had gone from so relaxed with Tina on the phone to instantly on edge the moment she saw Jodie’s car pull into view.  The last time they had seen one another was when Bette had caught Jodie in bed with another woman.  The fight had been horrendous, probably the worst she had ever had. 

     

    Tina had helped Bette to forget the unnerved, self-critical person she had become under Jodie’s influence.  And now Jodie was back, and every horrible, self-hating feeling was back with a vengeance.  Bette’s stomach rolled at the sound of Jodie’s knock.  She wasn’t ready for this.  She was exhausted, both physically and mentally, and she was reeling from being without Tina the last few weeks.  Bette opened the door only wide enough for her slight frame, hoping Jodie would get the hint that she wasn’t wanted. 

     

    "What do you want?"  She asked plaintively.  Bette saw no need to be nice.  What possible reason could Jodi have to be back?

     

    "We need to talk."  Jodie signed.

     

    "Absolutely not.  I have nothing to say to you and you couldn’t possibly have anything to say that I would find the least bit interesting."  Bette stumbled backward as Jodie pushed past her into the entry way,

     

    "We need to talk about us."

     

    "There is no ‘us’.  There never was an ‘us’.  It was all about you – you made that terribly clear.  Get out."

     

    Jodi smiled, looking Bette over from head to toe.  Bette crossed her arms over her midsection self consciously,

     

    "You look good."  Jodie reached out to touch the brunette but Bette backed away.  "Looks like you lost the weight you put on when we were together.  You’ve been running?"

     

    "It’s none of your business what I do."

     

    "You had let yourself go toward the end.  I think you got a little too comfortable" Jodie sighed.  She came here to get Bette back, by any means necessary, if it meant tearing her down, she would do what she had to do.

     

    Bette closed her eyes.  She was doing it again.  She had been here two minutes and Jodie was already chipping away at her self esteem.  Throughout their entire relationship there had been little comments, little digs here and there that Bette hadn’t paid attention to at first.  However, Jodie’s criticisms got worse with time, and Alice and Shane had both commented that they didn’t appreciate what Jodi had to say.

    4. Shane called it right, but that was very surorising to see Bette allow Jodi to actually sabotage her relationship with Tina, but then our Tina knows what she wants and needs so she is going to her woman.

    6. Let’s make sure we have the “I HATE jodi” FANCLUB on board. All together now, I HATE jodi. Good, that’s better. What in the hell was Bette thinking AND WHY did she even let her into her house. I could never understand how Bette couldn’t just say HELL NO. Bette didn’t even have to open the damned door in the firdt place. She knows how jodi can rattle her cage. So glad Tina is going to see her. I hope jodi shows up and Tina gives her a smackdown. Great update. Thanks for posting. PPVS

    7. great update. I never understood why Bette could not stand up to Jodi. I like Yoda’s explanation. I never thought of the Melvin connection. That pairing always felt forced on the show. Im glad Tina is going to fight for her woman. btw, since the story is finished, it wouldn’t be the worse thing if you did multiple posts in one day. hint hint :)

    9. Bette needed to stand her ground and not even let the bitch in her house! Ok, I said it….I HATE Jodi! I’m glad Tina’s making the trip. Let’s hope she gets there at the time she’s wanting to! PPS I’m on the edge of my seat!

    11. Chodi up to no good even in this story. We’ve got brain trauma opportunist version, a brain effing psycho, a kidnapper in another and many others. The faces of evil lol. Thank you for the update scaf.
