    And, it was all going so well.

     

     Chapter 7

     

    “I’ve got something I need to do first.”

     

    “Tina please don’t hide anything from me, Jesus, is there something else we need to talk about? Is there SOMEONE else”

     

    “Bette, I am being completely honest when I say that I love you, I want to be a family, I want to move back into our home but, there is one thing that I need to take care of first.”

     

    Tina moves her lips to Bette’s. It’s a tender, reassuring kiss. It’s the kiss that tells Bette everything is OK. Whatever Tina has to take care of is not a threat to THEM. It is not a threat to their relationship, it’s not a threat to HER family.

    “It’s good that we all like vegetables.”  In a two year old’s voice, “You made us a good dinner mommy, didn’t she Angelica.” Bette smiles at Angelica and they nod there heads in agreement.

     

    Angelica is exhausted from her busy day with Alice and falls asleep early in her Momma B’s arms. Bette stands and lifts Angelica to her shoulder, “I am going to take her to her bedroom.”

     

    Tina stands so she can give Angelica a good night kiss.

     

    Turning to walk away with Angelica. Tina smiles as she looks at Angelica in Bettes arms Tina thinks to herself. “ God I love her. I cannot imagine not seeing Bette raise Angelica with me. She is so good with her.”

     

    Bette is gone a little longer than the time it takes for her to put Angelica to bed and when she returns she has changed into a tight white under-shirt tank top and soft, long pajama pants. She curls up next to Tina now sitting on the couch, “Thank you!  Thank you for giving me back my family T.”

     

    “This is always the way I wanted it to be.” Tina strokes the top of Bette’s head.

     

    “Will you stay tonight?” Bette’s eyes are closed in anticipation of Tina’s response.

     

    “ I can’t tonight, baby.”

     

    Bette’s heart sank but she trusted Tina. Tina promised that this was nothing that would threaten their relationship and she had to trust that to be the case.
