Helena Peabody impatiently pulled at the cellophane on the packet of cigarettes. Horrible habit, she knew. Her struggle with trying to open the small box was probably a sign that she shouldn’t be smoking in the first place. Terrible things, cigarettes. Oh, well. You only lived once, right? And if she wanted a fag, she would bloody well have one.
She settled back and cracked the window, pulling out the ashtray as she pushed in the lighter and waited impatiently, fingers tapping on the steering wheel. Finally she pulled the lighter out, lit the end of her cigarette, and inhaled deeply, exhaling at her leisure. There. She felt better already.
Patience had never been one of her strong suits. When Helena wanted something, she wanted it then and there. She’d always gotten her way growing up, with her uncanny ability to twist nannies and various members of staff around her little finger. As she got older, if there was something that she couldn’t finesse, well, she could buy it. Everything – everyone – she’d learned, had a price.
Everyone, that is, except for Tina Kennard.
She’d been unable to woo Tina with expensive gifts or by pulling the curtain back on a life lived on a scale of luxury that Tina was entirely unused to – where money was no object, a private jet was ready to take them wherever they wanted to go, flashy cars and couture fashion were the norm, and the promise of anything and everything she wanted awaited at her word.
But where the money had been enough for most – pretty much every other woman Helena had ever been involved with – it wasn’t enough for Tina. Tina wanted different things, and possessed ideals that were as foreign to Helena as the sunny California weather would have been in Helena’s native rainy, damp England.
Tina wanted a simple home, a simple life, comfortable and nothing fancy. She wanted to talk about her feelings. She wanted to read books and watch films and discuss them. She wanted to… garden. Tina had laughed it off when Helena had informed her that digging around in the dirt, messing about with flowers, was something you hired someone else to do for you. All one was supposed to do was go out and cut a few roses every now and again, not do the actual weeding and such themselves. Tina had sweetly disagreed at the time, but it was a great example of why Helena found herself so obsessed with Tina.

I love Tina and Helena together. Ever since season 1 when bette cheated on Tina I’ve had a huge dislike for bette. I am always amused by the amount of sympathy bette gets…must be a lot of cheaters out there…hehehe I hope your story portrays Tina as the strong and confident woman she should have been on the show. Tina likes Helena for herself and not for her money which must be a new concept for Helena. Can’t wait to see how this plays out. pps
Bette not a threat… don’t think so. I love Tibette so I hope it ends with them together with some ups and downs along the way. I liked Helena at the end of the show not the beginning. I want to know where and why Bette was gone.
I’m personally a fan of Helena with anyone. Maybe it’s my love of the english accent, but Helena is my favorite character.
I’m a big Helena fan also…she’s my #2 and #1 is Bette…so must say I hope you’ll reconsider and make Belena ff??:))) Dislike TiHel ff but do as you please…I’ll read it anyway! but…nasty Belena would be great;))

I’m really thrill to see a Tina-Helena fic! It’s just amazing we will see different characters (for me, especially I can see Tina with different people, and I like Helena too), not that I have problem with TiBette(of course NOT). Thanks for that idea and story, I guess I will stick around! btw, I thought it a million times that why there are even Belena stories out there, and no Tina-Helena story at all?? (I’m really bad at writing a good story, or I may try one!!)Again, thank you!! and pps
Hey this story seems fun, the ” She ate exes for breakfast” made me laugh^^. But unlike LuHfan (sorry) I really really and I mean REALLY hate those two together any chance it might turn out to something else?? please say yes. I hope so but if not, this seems fun anyway.
Where have you been all this time kisskiss? (And where have I been that I totally missed your stories before.) You my dear are a whiff of fresh air in the fanfic world. Who could this girl be? Helena should hire a professional to do the sleuthing for her because only in another universe can gardening even be on the same footing with Bette Porter in Tina Kennard’s life. LOL. I’ve been clamoring myself for a Tilena story, as the only Tilena classic I know of is an old story by the venerable fanficchick, and it was quite a painful read. I’d like to read your take on the Tina-Helena pairing, and it doesn’t matter if this eventually becomes Tibette. Thanks for the heads up BTW. I’m sure the solid shippers appreciate it. I’d also just read your Tibette beginning, and just when I thought that no stone in the Tibette world has been left unturned in fanfic, you prove me wrong. Any chance of it getting continued? The kiss was a good way to end the story I know, but I have an awful lack of imagination, and I want to know how they negotiated the distance thing, etc. Basically, I just want to read more by you.
