If You Never Say Anything to Me ch. 26
If You Never Say Anything to Me
Chapter 26
When Tina left for the day, I realized how tired I was. The time that we’ve been spending together is incredible and I wouldn’t trade it for anything but to not get the usual eight hours of sleep that I needed, was making me a little cranky. I was able to stay awake until Tina called to let me know that she had arrived home safely. As much as I wanted her to stay, I understood her need to leave to take care of those things in her life that needed her attention. That didn’t mean though that I wasn’t worried about her driving being as tired as she was. We only spoke for a few minutes. It was enough time to make plans for dinner. By the time I lay my head on my pillow, I barely had a coherent thought left. I drifted off to sleep with no difficulty and slept through the phone ringing a couple of times. If I wasn’t able to be with Tina, sleep was as good an alternative as I could think of.
When I finally woke, I actually felt really good. I had slept really hard to have missed the phone ringing right beside my head on the nightstand. I checked the missed calls and saw that Kit and Bob had called. Before I could even contemplate calling either of them back, I made a pot of strong coffee and took a shower. Both were just what were needed. I poured the coffee into a carafe and took it, a cup and my phone out to the pool area. The day, at least this part that I hadn’t missed, was absolutely beautiful. There were no clouds and it wasn’t too hot. The only thing missing from making it a perfect afternoon was being with a beautiful woman. Well, really only one beautiful woman. Tina.
I called Bob back first. It always amazes me that he was my stepfather. Well, I wasn’t even sure if that applied any longer since Mom was gone. He was much more than that though. He was not only a wonderful human being; he also was probably the biggest supporter of my endeavors. When Mom met and eventually married him, my luck changed so much for the better to be a part of their lives. He had never let me down like Melvin did. He let me down in almost all of his actions. Bob was just someone who fell in love with Mom and realized early, to fall in love with her meant that I was part of the equation. He never failed at his role of being a father figure. I saw it in the way that he was with Mary’s kids too. He treated us all the same. They and I had talked about it over the years. For not having ever fathered anyone in the traditional sense, he was the best father we had ever had.

In-love Bette is just… cute is maybe the wrong word to use, but it’s the only one I can think of right now. The chats with Bob and Kit, and the flowers and card… She’s adorable. I hope Tina’s also ready to share the “L” word with Bette. Thanks for the post, NAG. Cheers!
i think the picnic on the beach will do them both good… talking about their feelings… will get them going! :)PPS
Bette is so open and loving. What a wonderful way to be.PPS.
Great Chapter!!! I love how Bette talked to Bob and Kit about Tina. Now bring on the picnic. Thanks Nag PPS

Oh, the story just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for another wonderful chapter. Can’t wait for the talk on the beach…maybe more will follow once Bette shares her true feelings.
Bette is lucky to have people that will listen to her and help her through the difficult decisions. Bob and Kit are a huge benefit to Bette in almost all aspects of her life.

Wow! What a charming update you had here for us. Thanks! It is so beautiful to hear Bette’s realization of falling for Tina and how scared she can be of telling her. The flowers and the basket were very thoughtful. We are eager to learn about their talk on such a romantic setting at the beach. Hmmm *smiling wide* PPS Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties.)
