Just The Girl – Chapter Twenty Three (a HYD-inspired fic)

    CHAPTER TWENTY THREE: Poetry

TUESDAY. 8:10 AM. Tina Kennard’s Apartment Building.

"I’m going now. Bye daddy!" A blonde shouted out her farewell as she slammed her apartment door shut. A small sigh escaped her lips as her mind went back to the events of last night for the umpteenth time. Back to Bette Porter. Back to that kiss. It was just a kiss right? She asked herself as she made her way down the familiar flight of stairs. But what was it that Louie Armstrong said again? Oh right.. a kiss is still a kiss. And try as she might, Tina couldn’t deny that. As much as her brain wanted to think otherwise, she knew the truth. Bette may have initiated the kiss.. but she was just as guilty because she kissed the brunette back. And as much as it pained her to admit, she actually liked it.. to the point of replaying it over and over inside her head. And that did nothing but send her conflicting self further into turmoil. Bette Porter as her new love? She sighed as she reached the landing on the ground floor. Her mind tried to reject the idea.. but her heart kept on telling her and letting her feel just how right it was.

I wonder how it will change the dynamics of our relationship? She pondered as she opened the main doors. What she didn’t anticipate was for her question to be immediately answered as soon as she stepped out of her building. The air momentarily left her lungs as her eyes danced around the image of a cocky heiress leaning back against her parked car on the sidewalk.

    "Good morning Kennard!"

"What the heck are you doing here?"

    “Wow.. nice greeting.."

"Sorry. Good morning Porter. How’s that?"

    "Much better."

"Okay.. so what are you doing here so early in the morning?"

"I have come to pick you up."

    "Why?"

"So we could go to school together, silly!"

"Really now? What makes you think that I will come with you?"

    "Cause I’m irresistible?"

    "Hah! Don’t flatter yourself."

    "Cause I’m overflowing with charm?"

    "Hell no."

    "Cause I’m saying please?"
