Dana and Alice got dressed quickly, both wearing a pair of jeans and a simple tee shirt. Alice frequently asked Dana if she needed help because of her crutches, but being the independent spirit that she was, Dana kept denying any help Alice had offered. Alice finally just gave up and went to wait in the living room for her slightly handicapped love.

Dana hobbled her way awkwardly into the living room with a pair of flip flops on her feet and a flushed face. Alice took in her appearance and tried to choke back her giggles when she realized Dana’s shirt was on inside out and backwards. Dana, so caught up in the inconvenience of her crutches, didn’t notice her girlfriend laughing at her.

Dana leaned her crutches against the wall and hopped into the kitchen with her back to Alice. "Dana?" Dana had a mouthful of skittles by now. "Huh?" Dana turned around with her mouth full to look at her blonde counterpart. "Dana, babe, your shirts on backwards…and inside out." Dana stopped chewing and looked down at her shirt, which was indeed inside out and backwards. "Daammmmmmmit!" She hung her head, hopped back to her crutches, and went back into her bedroom to fix her mistake. "Dane? Do you need my help?" Dana hadn’t even gotten to the bedroom yet. "No, I need to learn how to take care of myself with these fuckin things." Alice just sighed, of course she wouldn’t let her help. She let her head dro against the back of Dana’s couch.

The clicking of Dana’s crutches broke her thoughts and she looked up to see Dana grab the keys to the Mercedes. "Let’s go I’m hungry." Dana made no eye contact with Alice as she waddled past her and out the door, not even waiting for her.

The car ride went the same, no eye contact, no speaking, no physical contact. Alice pulled her phone out a few times to check the time. She knew Dana was having trouble adjusting to being on crutches, but she didn’t realize it would be this hard on her. Alice would do anything it took to relieve some of the difficulty her girlfriend was going through. "Dana?" Dana just looked out her driver’s side window while they stopped at a red light.
