Leap of Faith (Chapter 9)

Spending the morning with six four-year-olds puts things in perspective. Bette marveled at how in the moment they were, oblivious to everything but the then and there. And, at this very moment, all eyes were watching Bette dip her feet into yellow and blue containers of watercolor paint to make a trail of green footprints along the 12 feet of butcher paper she’d spread out on the lawn.
She might as well have walked on water, Tina thought. Her heart sang when Bette looked up, her smile the biggest and brightest in the group. Like the pied piper of the color wheel, Dean Porter led her young charges through pink, purple, and orange. At the end of their colorful hike, Tina cut the paper into equal sections and each child had a footprint rainbow to take home with them.
“You know all the parents in the playgroup are going to have to step up their game now, right? Tina watched as Bette braided Angelica’s hair.
“It’s not a competition,” Bette said sheepishly.
“Keep telling yourself that,” Tina smiled, handing her Angelica’s favorite pink ribbon.
“Day-Day?” Angelica clapped her hands gleefully at the thought of seeing Dana. Bette and Tina exchanged a look that their precocious daughter knew well. “No Day-Day?”
At 11:30 Alice smiled as she removed Dana’s hand from her boob and slipped out of bed. She followed Dana’s frantic train of thought hours earlier when a routine morning potty trip ended in another round of steamy sex. The story was easy to read. The harness lay on the floor where it had been hastily discarded upon Dana’s realization that it would require some serious adjustments given how much she was showing. A g-spot vibrator and reliable Mr. Pointy occupied the space between it and their funny little bike pants. Obviously Dana had opted for Bob quickly, because Alice hadn’t known about any of this until now.
Al chuckled softly at the thought of Dane running through so many possibilities in such a short amount of time. She flashed on how they’d hunted down the spandex shorts, which allowed for easy access and quick attachment changes, after hearing comedienne Suzanne Westenhoefer rave about them one night. If the harness didn’t fit easily, Alice wondered why in the world Dana thought the fun pants would. She shook her head and smiled again as she scooped up the toys, wrapped them in a towel and headed to the kitchen, her head filled with the memories of their early morning lovemaking.

I appreciate the warnings. Excellent chapter. Wow. Let’s see… Bette and Tina: They seem to be standing strong for the moment. Love the artwork they made with the kids. Angie is just too cute with her Day-Day obsession. Helena and Lara: I hope Lara listens and they are able to work through their current problems. Kit: I am happy things seem to be going so well for her. Jenny: Feel free to ship her back wherever she came from — the Carmen thing was cold. Shane/Beth/Carmen: Shane and Beth just seem to be finding a groove together. I hope Carmen doesn’t interfere with it — intentionally or unintentionally. Danish: They toy thing at the beginning was pure Danish as was the stuff with the French press. Too funny that Shane was afraid to ask why they needed a new one. Hee! Dana certainly was persistent with her horny hormones. Hot. They were having such a wonderful day until Dana started feeling those pains. Needless to say, I hope she and the baby are OK. The good thing is that she and Alice are very strong and I think they can make it through anything together. I am really looking forward to your next post to see what is happening with her. I echo MaGoose’s comment. Can we start calling D “Day-Day”? That’s awfully cute. What a way to end to end the chapter. I hope all the previous activities did not take a huge toll on D’s pregnancy. If they had to lay off some earth shattering sex for a while, so be it. Love this story and love your writing. Thank you very much as always!!

ok so here’s the deal, I haven’t read the chapter and I’m forcing my eyes not to drift down to the other comments below. What I’m going to do is start commenting on the chapter before I read this one because as you know I have no internet and I have to find a way to sneak it home from work. The last chapter was packed with amazing awesomem sex and drama and you never cease to amaze my ass…not literally but you do amaze me. I love the bond Beth and Shane have formed, I’m positive it’s strong enough to get over this Carmen thing, although I like Carmen a lot so I hope they all stay friends!
