Life changes unexpectedly – Chapter 12

    Chapter 12

“Cool place.” Michael says as he walks through the doors and look around.

    “Thank you.” Bette replies.

Tina walks over to the painting she likes so much. Bette follows.

“I really like this one. I don’t know why, but I do.” Tina says and smiles.

“Yeah, it’s a small masterpiece.” Bette replies.

“Bette? Can I walk over there and look?” Megan asks.

“Sure, go look around. Just as long as you don’t touch anything.” Bette says and smiles.

“I won’t. Thank you.” Megan says and walks around. Michael follows slowly, looking around as he goes.

Bette takes Tina’s hand in hers.

“Let me show you around, I’ve gotten some new pieces the last few days.” Bette says and smiles.

“Oh, you have? Okay, come on, take me there.” Tina says and leans into Bette as they walk into the adjoining space. Bette points at three paintings that hang beside each other.

“There, all three of them are made by the same artist. It’s an 18 year old girl. She’s so talented, just think about where she’ll be in a few years.” Bette says.

“Wow, that young. They are all beautiful. I really do like abstract art best. I don’t have to analyze them so much. It’s just about what the eye sees colours coming together.” Tina says. “At least for me.” She adds.

They stay at the gallery for about an hour before they head out, deciding to have lunch at Tina’s work. Megan wanted to see it.

“Tina, hey. You working now?” Erica, one of the workers asks as she spots Tina enter the cafe.

“Hey, no, I’m here with girlfriend and family. I’m not on until Tuesday next week I think.” Tina replies.

“Oh okay. Cool, so can I take you orders? Drinks perhaps?” Erica asks.

“Mikey, Megan, what to you want to drink?” Tina asks.

    “Coke.” Michael says.

“Can I have a slush?” Megan asks looking at Tina with pleading eyes.

“Sure. You babe?” Tina asks turning towards Bette.

    “A coffee, please.” Bette says.

“I’ll have a cappuchino. Thanks.” Tina says. Erica leaves the table with the orders.

“Food everyone?” What do you want? It’s on me.” Bette says. Tina gives her a loving smile.

“I just have a salad or something.” Michael says.

    1. I think Lamentamini is right about the cemetery. I think Bette is going to say goodbye to her past life and let her wife know that she loves Tina a lot and wants to start a new life with her. Tina should not be worried Bette just wants to show her she is ready to start moving on. PPS

    2. Ummmm, you have peaked my interest here. Tina is very uncomfortable or at least that is what I am feeling. Love Michael and Megs. Hope to see more of them.

    3. Hey Lauren, Good to have more of this delightful drama. Sweet to see that the love that Tina and Bette are only just admitting to is there for all to see. Amazing that it is Micheal is the one to say it how he sees it. Then, I get the feeling that Bette has taken Tina home. Can’t wait to find out where they are. Only know Tina is not best pleased. More please. Many thanks for this morning entertainment. Your Loyal Fan.
