Lost and Found – Chapter 1
Angelica lay on her bed, trying desperately to concentrate on the homework before her. It was maths. Angelica sighed. She had hated maths since she was six years old and it had stayed that way over the last nine years. It was not really that she did not understand the subject, she just found it incredibly boring and dry.
Angelica looked at her watch; the minutes were passing by very quickly and she realized with anxiety that she had not made much progress yet. Her mother had given her two hours to finish it but Angelica had spent most of these hours doing something else, like staring out of the window while listening to music or making various phonecalls. Just when she was about to go over to the next task, her cell phone rang.
"Thank God!", Angelica mumbled, grateful at the intrusion.
She took her cellphone and looked at who was calling.
"Oh, no…" she groaned, annoyed. It was Alex, her boyfriend; he didn’t really deserve that last definition, though, since Angelica was only together with him so she could be like every one else in her class. Every one of her friends was in a relationship with someone or at least lovesick with some teenage boy. So, Angelica had felt forced to be in a relationship, as well, to stop the rumours about her being gay, because her parents were lesbians.
"Hey, Alex," she said, trying to sound enthusiastic.
"Hey, baby!", she heard him say, almost feeling sick every time he called her that. He, on the contrary to Angelica, was very much in love with her and he did not know that Angelica was only using him to fit in. In fact, nobody knew this. That it was Angelica’s primary goal: just to fit in.
"What’s up?" he asked.
"Oh, nothin’ much," Angelica replied dully, "I’m trying to do maths again…And I’m screwed, cause I’m supposed to be done already and I haven’t even started yet…It’s so fucking boring!"
"Oh, honey," Alex said, compassionately, "That sounds bad."
"Yeah," Angelica rolled her eyes , "it is. Especially since my parents wanna check it later…I mean, right about now, actually!" Angelica cast another anxious look at her watch.
"That sucks," she heard Alex say, "But tell me somethin’ else, Angel; you’re still gonna come to that party at my house, later, right? I mean, everyone’s gonna be there and you know I would love it if you’d come!"

You’ve been successful in describing teenage angst. They are so egocentric. Excellent beginning. You must be British or European b/c here in the U.S. we call it math w/o the extra “s”. This is not meant as a criticism just an observation. :-)
Cool story, I’m interested to see where this is going, even though I think Tina was a little harsh on Angelica. Just my opinion
Interesting start! Tina should make Angie sit downstairs where she can keep an eye on her while she works on her math homework. That makes it easier to ask for help when needed.
Great beginning. I’m curious as to why Angie isn’t into her boyfriend so much. Is she just trying to fit in or is there something more?
I feel for Angie but 100% behind Tina.Angie is lucky Bette wasn’t there too lol.Sometime parents have to be strict with young people because life is not that easy and if they haven’t got any education it is even more difficult. can’t wait for the next post. great beginning.
Very good, interesting first post. The most important thing in any teenaged girls(or boys)life is being accepted by peers. Definitely post again.
very good start, really enjoyed this first chapter
This is interesting start and like it. Please post more, thanks!
I feel sorry for Angie… Trying to fit in isn’t easy if you parents are ‘different’. I like your story xxx PPS
