Meet Bette Porter The 30 Yr OLd Virgin(24)
Chapter Twenty-Four
‘Fuck what am I doing here?’
Bette was sitting inside her car on Kit’s driveway; her head leaning against the car seat while her eyes on her sister’s new abode. It was indeed beautiful and she must admit that her sister chose the right house, for it had a distinct feel of comfort. The renovation won’t be finished in three days so even though most of the furniture were already there Kit couldn’t move in yet.
‘Why am I here?’
Bette asked herself once more. She took a deep breath. The scene when Sarah asked who owned the beautiful country house near the lake keep on replaying in her mind. She didn’t know why but she wasn’t really sure how to respond to that question at first. Bette hesitated for a split second but decided to tell the truth but Sarah’s phone rang and had to answer it. They finished the day without Sarah asking the same question again and it was such a great relief on the brunette.
‘Fuck!’
Bette closed her eyes, she didn’t like what she’s becoming, keeping things from Sarah was something that she hated to do. The past few months her life with Sarah had been great, smooth sailing until her path crossed Tina’s once more. She must admit that the blonde’s absence helped her relationship with the English teacher grew but now her occasional thoughts of the blonde were creating imbalance to the dream like relationship that she had with Sarah and she didn’t like it.
Bette went out of the car and walked to the side of the house, it was almost eight in the evening but because of the clear night sky, she didn’t have a problem following the path leading to the lake. She didn’t know why she was there, but whenever something was troubling her she would find herself staring at the beautiful lake for it had been her secret hideaway even before she met the blonde.
She could feel the coldness of the night as she walked towards the lake. She chose the spot where it would give her a good view; she just sat there in silence trying to clear her mind. She thought about Peggy Peabody, the older woman that she met almost six months ago in a small bar in Flint, Michigan. Peggy’s words still lingered in her head

You asked me to tell you what I thought…well…I still think you’re a shit! LOL But I love this story – just don’t know why you have to take us the long way…?! Please don’t hesitate to post more often. WE miss this one! Very Much!!
phacey – as always I am happy to see an update on this story but it’s with mixed emotions because it really is getting harder to read. I’ll apologize upfront because my thoughts after reading this chapter are not kind but I promise it’s not an attack on you just my feelings on these characters and the situation they are in. I can relate to how difficult this is for you to write because the journey you have laid out for them promises to leave a trail of destruction and many will be hurt to bring TiBette their happy ending. It will be easier for you if you don’t pressure yourself with trying to please the audience and just stick to your vision for the story. Some readers will stick with it, some will drop off and some will take a break from it until you turn things around and bring them back together. If you compromise then it won’t be believable, TiBette will appear contrived and you will not have accomplished what you set out to do. I know I need to be patient along with everyone else but it would be encouraging to start seeing some inkling of the foundation you talk about to bring them to something meaningful because so far you have given us nothing but the physicality. Every thought they have about each other has been based on the sex. Bette had no reaction to Tina leaving the school. Tina had no compassion for Bette’s situation with Kit. Tina’s mother is supposedly dead or dying or sick or something and not once does Bette’s thoughts go to how Tina might be dealing with that. It’s unusual that Kit would just show up and become friends with Tina and never mention that she moved to their town because of her sister being there. I also feel that if Bette only wanted friendship from Tina to avoid the awkwardness of working together then she is more shallow than I gave her credit for and it makes me think even more that they do not belong together. Reading this chapter I was reminded of two scenarios on the L Word that I relate to Bette/Sarah and Tina/Sam. To me Tina/Sam is like Dana/Alice. They ruined an amazing friendship by becoming lovers when in fact Dana was rebounding from Lara. In this case Tina is Dana, Sam is Alice, and Bette is Lara. Sam is giving her heart to the relationship and Tina is accepting it with the full knowledge that her own heart isn’t in it. She needs someone and Sam is convinient. It will be good for a while and the deeper Sam falls the more difficult it will be to recover but Tina will move on just like Dana did with Lara. The Bette/Sarah scenario reminds me of S5 when Bette admits that she still loves Tina but she’s with Jodi and Tina is noncommittal and still chasing Sam. They have already slept together a couple of times and Bette is feeling guilty but she doesn’t break it off with Jodi. There is a very disturbing scene (at least it was for me) where Bette comes home from the movie studio after visiting Tina and she’s in bed lamenting, and sexually frustrated because Tina got her hot and bothered. Jodi comes into the bedroom and Bette basically uses Jodi’s body while masterbating and likely fantasing about Tina. I actually felt very sorry for Jodi in that scene and what made it more pathetic was that Jodi allowed it. Bette going to Sarah and having sex with her whenever she feels hurt, confusion, rejection, frustration or whatever else is going on with her because she can’t deal with her feelings for Tina to me feels like Bette is using sex with Sarah to assauge her desires (similar to what Bette did to Jodi) and that disturbes me. Had Bette gone back to the lake or gone home and did some soul searching then I would respect that she was trying to find some solutions; going to Sarah felt all wrong. I know you say Bette is ‘honest’ with Sarah and she makes love to her to validate her love but that kind of love is manipulative and unhealthy especially knowing that Bette isn’t being honest with herself so how much truth could their be in her feelings for Sarah. Sarah has to be more than this ‘safe haven’ that Bette runs to in order not to face her demons. To me Sarah is like the ‘other woman’ and like Sam she is a convinience but for now but her usefulness will soon end and she too will be tossed aside. I know how harsh that sounds, but that is how I am reading their coupling. I think it would help me to not feel this way if I could witness a real conversation between Bette and Sarah where all this ‘honesty’ is taking place and to hear Sarah’s response to it. You’ve given us more meaningful dialogue between Tina and Sam so that relationship is pretty open as to what is going on between them, but Sarah and Bette are a mystery. Anyway as always I appreciate you indulging my little rants. Until the next time, thanks for posting.
i am happy that you are back i always llllllllllllllllooovvveeeee this story thank you very mutch i weally like t’hem togeter please make hem happy i enjoy it thanks againe!!!!!!!
This is sad, good to see you update and please post more, thanks!
Thanks for the posting… Wow, BAT2012 had many interesting observations. I’d like to agree with most of them with a few additions… If we,could all just be born perfect and knowing all there was to be successful in relationships… If only… I wish I knew then what I know now about heathy relationships and maybe I would still be in one, but that’s another story. So, I will take this rant in a different direction. What if, let’s say, we take this story and characters to the spiritual realm for a moment. What if we look at the possibility that Bette and Tina met too soon being the soul mates that they are. What if on a soul level they recognize one another, but the timing for them to be together isn’t just yet as they have some important lessons to learn and those lessons come from Sarah and Sam. And, maybe Kit’s connection to Tina is the link back to Tina that Bette needs when the timing is better. Everyone that comes into their lives offers them information about themselves. What if we allow our author to take them down the pathway as she intended so that we may all learn more about relationships? I will trust that it will be a fabulous journey for all of us. I’ve learned so much about our culture thru the amazing stories that you all write. So thanks to you all. I’m just saying…
phacey once again thank you for bringing us another chapter…so far the Bette and Tina in this story is not your ideal tibette, their actions and behaviors are not always good but thats who they are, humans. Human actions arent always ryt most of the time people commit mistakes and stupid decisions but those are the normal part of life. We learn from our mistakes and hopefully use them in our future endeavors to succeed. I agree that this story is getting hard to read bec we are thinking that somewhere along the way hearts will be broken but what if we let fate intervene and along the way no one will get hurt. Common thinking is that to bring tibette together there has or have to be heart/s that need to be destroyed, its just a wild hunch but just like what bumsue said i trust that it’ll be a fabulous journey for all of us so i’ll still be here waiting..take care
Great update. but I just want them to get together and it’s hard to see them with different people. But I appreciate where you’re going with this and just wait patiently. Thanks for this story.
great… but when do they get together? glad you post
*Scratching my head*…*Sighing*…. ..[And about to yell.]F…..ing hell!. …..Poor Bette…….. ….dammit!…….*wiping my eyes with my hands*…. ……Wish they will realize … that they are both…….being stupid in here….[read this somewhere in ff.] That no matter how hard we deny our attraction to the other person… “our heart knows she wants”…
dammmm bette i think your a fool… in your heart you love tina… and i still say sarah has something up her sleeve… why after all the time they knew each other, now she wants bette… some thing is going on there and i hope i’m right… still hard to read tina with sam… but you go me… love this story… pps
As much as i love seeing B & T together, i don’t want that to happen here. Bette’s with sarah & tina has already taken things with sam to the next level, she can’t just leave her for bette now, sam’ll be crushed :( Unless it ends up like those crappy “i’m happy as long as you’re happy scenes” cause that’s bull**** only way for T to end up with B is if they somehow switch partners(which is impossible) cause sam’s been in love with tina since highschool, i don’t see her ending up with sarah at all. Loving the story so far :) p.p.s but if u make tina break sam’s heart, i’d totally find stalk & kill ya :)
And b.t.w if tina leaves sam, she’s a bitch! Cause sam was trynna cope with being friends then tina got her hopes up with all this relationship stuff. And if u do end up breaking sams heart, tina had better not give her the “let’s stay friends” speech. Cause if sam agrees, she’s either stupid or is a crazy ass masochist. Loving the pairing so far, changing it will only damage the story. Cause honestly i don’t see anything positive coming from B & T getting back together. We all just have to accept that instead of a tibette story, we’re getting a berah & tam pairing. Hehehe lame names(i know) but they got an awesome thing going if they’d just focus on who they’re with and stop obsessing bout wht they could have, after one night together and a lot of tears after. Tina should suck it up and stay with sam, and bette should stop going to tina’s house to monitor her, she’s starting to seem like a stalker. And i don’t even get it again, she had a choice to make, she choosed sarah, so why the sudden obsession with tina? And as for tina, bette dumped her and went for sarah, so why’s she still bugging herself thinking bout bette? Well… Wht ev. Still loving the story :) p.p.s but seriously, if tina dumps sam, i’d find, stalk and kill ya :) she’s only allowed to go back to bette if sam dies.
I`m with Ava Red23.Thank you for the update,I love this story.I will be patient.PPS
I am really enjoying this story but the girls really need to get together..great update!
