My Shane Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Mrs. Garrett is this short plump women. She’s really nice she fixed our plates for dinner. It was plain and simple home-made cheese and bread. The Garrett have 2 little kids, Zoey and Joey so after helping Mr. and Mrs. Garrett with the dishes me, Jordan and Shane played monopoly with the kids. Shane was sitting against the wall in her "don’t-care" attitude and kept on winning money. When she saw that Zoey ran out of money she gave all her money to Zoey. She doesn’t interact much with kids. But Jordan on the other hand is really good with kids. Thunders are my childhood fears, so when there was a thunder I quickly grabbed Jordan’s hand that was next to me.
Jordan: " Oh missy, like thunder much?"
Soon Mr. and Mrs. Garrett came and called it a night, at 7 o’ clock. I guess farm people sleep early. The kids wanted to sleep with Jordan, apparently that’s what they do everytime Jordan stays over. So that leaves me and Shane to sleep on the loft. I have never slept on the loft in my life, so I am really excited as to how its gonna work out. Its still raining cats and dogs outside.
I climb up the ladder to go to the loft, and stand there dumbstruck. Where is the bed? there’s just a lot of stacks of hay, and a little window. Where are we gonna sleep? Right then a big bad thunder strikes and I jump on my feet and lost balance and was almost about fall but I just fell on some white sheets.
I didn’t notice when Shane came up behind me carrying the sheets that we are gonna sleep on and was just in time to catch me. "Dios Mio!" I say it out loud.
Shane helps me on my feet and turns to face me.
Shane: " Why are you so afraid of thunders?"
Carmen: " I don’t know! I just get startled by the sound..and my mami says that there was a lot of thunder on the day my papi died…" and I look down. I have never met my papi but the tattoo around my waist gives me a feeling that he’s always with me. No one has ever asked me why I am scared of thunders, they just laugh it off as a childish jesture.
