    The one where Tina makes a friend

    New York Minute

    Chapter 37

    Bette was in the kitchen washing up while Tina was alone with Angie. Bette was thinking about work – she was neglecting her business. In the next few weeks she was going to have to devote a regular 7-8 hours a day to her gallery to get it back on track. James had worked miracles standing in for her but there were things that only she could do – there were clients who wanted her attentions while she had been devoting all her time to her new fantastic family. George Marchmaine was the first of her wealthy clients she would need to call when she got back to her office the next day, then she would have to check up on Peggy P and see if her new man had approved of all the items that Bette had found for her. If that went well maybe Bette would pick up more work by word of mouth.

     

    “I cannot say that was what I was expecting from her first day at school – she’s only 5 for freaking hell sakes “

     

    Tina was still pretty pissed off about one of Angie’s new friends mentioning sex to her. Bette was more laid back about things and had said that it was to be expected – Tina didn’t see it that way at all. Bette put away some plates and looked at Tina

     

    “She was happy with the explanation – she’s not obsessed the way that adults are about sex. Its just a word she’s probably heard before and now she’s been told that its something that you and I do- she’s bound to be curious “

    “I am going to speak to this girl’s mom in the morning “

     

    “Tina – don’t go in there stomping around – these are people who we want Angie to make friends with –

    take it easy “

    “You were just laughing “

    “Well it was funny and you and I must have looked like two shop dummies the way we just looked at her and opened and closed our mouths like goldfish – it was funny “

    “It was not – she’s 5 “

    “I am sure there are 5 year olds in her class who know a lot more about sex than she does”

    1. Gosh!!! They did well lol. Remember asking almost the same question at the same age lol. I am gutted that Tina die not get this job. Just hope her confidence won’t suffer.     4. Great chapter once again AllyE. Wonder if Casey will remember where she saw Bette before and btw, we don’t know what Casey does for a living, and maybe that is how she knows Bette during her dark times. If Helena has nixed the job for Tina, then Bette will skewer her and she should, then Peggy should get involved and turn that thing around and she should skewer Helena. Peggy doesn’t know what Helena has been up to and I think someone should tell her. OMG, don’t tell me that helena has invested in that particular studio and has told them not to hire Tina. Let the fireworks begin. Thanks for posting.

    6. Oh! Tina’s still so prude is fun, especially when she’s also riled up! Now, it’s sad that she didn’t get the job, she’s lucky to have Bette to comfort her and help her find what went wrong with the studios. Casey’s a Tibette right? Not some friend of Helena or Jenny? Read you soon.

    10. Hey Ally, Many thank yous for such an great chapter. It started wonderfully as Tina was still in shock at Angie’s innocent question. Bette handled her well. Then the delight of Angie and Bella – cutie pies, hand in hand heading off to school. It is the love and support that Bette and Tina share that eminates from your words. Then Tina made a new friend before hearing harsh news and feeling that Helena was behind this. Casey was totally apologetic about Bella’s proclamation about sexy and suitably embarrassed by her daughter’s frankness. This does sound like the beginning of a true friendship.
