    Bette’s house, West Hollywood, LA, 2007

    She pauses for a moment, letting my words sink into her psyche, I’m telling her we can get past whatever issues we both have, Henry, Candace, Helena and Jodi, I hope she knows that.

    She slips her leg around and turns slowly, moving her body across to straddle me. It’s not about sex, it’s about bringing herself as close to me as is humanly possible, she lays her body down against my chest, tucking herself neatly in beneath my chin. Her hair tickles me, her breath tempts me and I’m overcome by the sensation of the surface of my skin in contact with hers, it’s been so long.

    I’m torn; between the fear of our unravelling and a desperate need to know why we’ve finished up here, at the dining room table, the only woman I’ve ever truly loved with my whole heart is sitting in my lap, our daughter beside us, picture perfect and yet we’re not. We’re apart, we’re not lovers anymore, we don’t hold each gazes, cuddle in our sleep, it’s not my privilege anymore to look at her in the daytime and envisage her body naked.

    We also both have secrets.

    Only she knows why she left me. I’d like her to tell me but I’m afraid of the row, afraid that my mind will only hold out for so long against the stark reality of such details. The longer she rests herself against me like this, the easier it is for me to pretend that the woman in my arms never left me for a man. The stronger the urge to lie and make out like I was never the one who cheated or lied, that it wasn’t really me who broke the most sacred and revered union in both of our lives.

    I’m not lying now though, I do want to know why she left, I want to know because something in her eyes tells me that in a painful and heart wrenching way I’m probably going to like hearing it, but I meant what I said, it’s more important for me to know why she’s come back.

    7. well that was heartwrenching. I like bette as a big cat…she IS a big cat, and she is magnificent. I’m wondering about something where tibette are concerned. I’m starting to wonder if they’re not too hard on one another, and on themselves. ok, so bette cheated, and tina cheated with that idiot man, but in a way, they’re so mired in it all. You’re unmucking them, which is lovely, and you’re doing a great job. remind me to tell you about a metaphor that came to mind, when I read this one. you’ll kick ass with exams, no doubt.

    10. Good luck with your mean exams. I remember those times, they can be rough but you will survive. This is something that they should have done long ago. If they had talked earlier maybe all of this mess could have been avoided. Now they have a chance to make it work and do it right this time.

    11. That one little sentence sums it all up….she was afraid of when she’d leave again…truer words have never been spoken. How many people have done that? at the very least thought that…..everyone.

    12. Honda I agree with you; and thats the thing they say-once a cheater, always a cheater. Its like Tina had to take Bette thru this big painful lesson so that she would NEVER forget again what she lost!!!! otherwise Bette was just racing to forget, look at The Planet scene when she rushed into apologise…I would have been mad at her just like Tina…hey the shame of her cheating was enuff without racing in when u’ve barely washed that woman OFF YOUR SKIN and telling T “You’re the love of my life’ like T’s supposed to say Oh yeah great take me home fuck me baby I’m yours!!!!…I mean where would that have got her with Bette’s next conquest…yup T had to teach her the lesson of her life or she woulda just ended up like daddy…” I had to ensure my own happiness’…never mind yours daddy…Anywayz sorry for raving but thats how good you are…Go do your bloody exams, pass with Excellence or whatever you guys do over there….

    13. Oh what??? U did that to us/I mean me…I was right there with you…all the way!!!! OK so you have exams or finals or something!!!! Go on go do what u have to do BUT that was bloody perfect!!!!!! So I’ll sit on my hands until u get back here ok???? All the best.

    18. they both did some fucked up things to each other and have so much to be sorry for, but im glad they are getting the answers they deserves, communication was always their biggest problem…they are so perfect and meant to be together no henry, brenda, kate, Jodi, Candace, leigh,or whoever could stop this
