Tina climbed up the vine on the side of Tyler’s house and swiftly jumped through the open window. Tyler was lounging on his bed reading a comic book when Tina rolled in with her usual grace.

"Hey faggot," Tyler said grinning.

"Fuck you," Tina responded a little out of breath.

That was the usual response but Tyler noted immediately that Tina was distressed about something. He sat up at attention and said, "what’s wrong?"

"Tyler they found out," Tina cried.

"Fuck," Tyler said, "they found out about Kate?"

"I broke up with Kate remember?"

"Oh shit," Tyler said smacking his forehead.

"She told them," Tina said.

"Now they’re looking to kill you," Tyler said dropping his head.

"I’m a Southern Belle who is the heiress to North Carolina’s biggest oil company," Tina said, "I can’t be gay!"

"I know that, we’ve been best friends for 15 years Tina," Tyler said. They had become playpals when they were two but when Tyler’s family went bankrupt when they were 8, Tina’s family wanted to separate her from the ‘swine.’ Tina saw him anyways. Tyler was the only person she ever loved and trusted unconditionally.

Since then Tina seemed to do the opposite of what her parents wanted her to. Though she couldn’t help finding out she was a lesbian when she was 16. Tyler was the only person who ever knew and he was 100 percent supportive.

"What am I gonna do Tyler? They were chasing me," Tina said.

"With the hound?" Tyler asked.

"With Rex himself," Tina said.

Tyler gasped, "they’re using your own dog to track you? That’s just wrong!"

"I don’t know what to do Tyler, I can’t stay here and I don’t even want to," Tina cried, "is there room in the military for me? I can go with you to camp in California!"

"Tina, the military is no place for you," Tyler said, "you hate fighting and you still can’t even be freely gay!"

There was a loud bark coming from outside and banging on Tyler’s front door. Tina panicked and jumped onto her best friend’s bed, "Ty what do I do!"

Tyler stammered a bit trying to find a solution for his best friend and quickly said, "deny it!"

"What?" Tina exclaimed, "they’ll never believe me!"
