    Bette’s condition worsens?

    Previously–

    “I will not calm down,” she fumes through clenched teeth.  “This is MY life we’re talking aboutnot hisand certainly not yours.”  Her final utterance stings, penetrating through my chest.  I feel my heart drop into my stomach and can only stand here in stunned silence.

     

    Finally regaining my senses, I swallow hard and turn to leave.  I don’t know what’s gotten into her.  She just went from being scared, asking me for help, toto THAT at the drop of a hat.  I’ve never seen Bette change that quickly beforeeven when provoked.  I have to find the doctor.  Something deeper is going on here.

    Chapter 17–

    “Where are you going,” she asks, nodemands to know.  “Tina!”  I hear the emotion in her words, but can’t just sit there without knowing what’s going on.

     

    I walk out of the room and approach the doctor.  As he hands some papers to a nurse, he leans on the counter and faces me.  “I take it she’s not normally like that,” he says.

     

    “No, not normally,” I answer with the sense that he already knows it.  “What’s going on,” I plead with him to help me understand.

     

    “Bette has had enough swelling in her brain to cause some pressure and possible damage to her frontal lobe.  The sudden mood swing is a symptom of that damage.”

     

    “Is it permanent?  I mean, will she be back to the same old Bette soon?”  My questions come out before I’m sure I want them answered.  ‘The same old Bette.’  Who is that?  The person I built my life with?  Or the person who went behind my back and slept with another woman?  Or is she this person who’s been talking with a Catholic priest?  The same old Bette?  I don’t even know who that is.

     

    “I can’t answer that; at least not right now.  I’ll have a better picture of what’s going on after the test results come back.  Right now, everything that I can do is being done.”  I know he can’t guarantee a complete recovery, but that’s what I need to hear right now.  His answer doesn’t put my mind at ease one bit.

     

    “Okay.  I just want you to know that I’ll do whatever it takes toto assure Bette’s full recovery.”

    3. Well well well, look who it is! I blinked in disbelief when I saw that you had posted, perfection!! Hehe I hope that what you’ve experienced in the past seven months haven’t been too bad. Remember, what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger. Thanks for coming back to us! I’m sure that writing will be a great stress reliever. There’s definitely nothing like your style of writing on the site, and I’ve really missed it. Is Bette having a stroke?! I hope not. B&T aren’t the only ones freaking out here lol

      Seems like Bette is still in deep trouble and could Tina be in a bit of trouble herself with the cute doc? Bring it on LOL

    5. my apologies ladies…I’m dealing with the end of my term and finals right now. Exams will be over the middle of next week and I’ll put in a LOT more time on the fanfic. Thanks for all the comments amd I promise I won’t keep you hanging as long as last time.

    11. Welcome back! I knew I recognized the author and of course the story. Of course, I had to go back to review a couple of chapters before proceeding onto this new one. You have been sorely missed, Ms. Perfection. Please don’t stay away too long again.

      On a side note, I hope your personal life cheers up soon. Glad to have you back!
