    Planet Terror: New Beginnings

You can cry tough baby, it’s all right
You can let me down easy, but not tonight…
We’re running with the Shadows of the Night
So baby take my hand, you’ll be all right
Surrender all your dreams to me tonight
They’ll come true in the end…

Bette stood back for a moment, watching Helena’s departing back.  She stood in the water, feeling it pull around her calves.  Helena looked back and smiled, waving her over.

“You all right?” Helena asked softly. Bette nodded.

    “I just…had a bad feeling for a second there. It’s ok now.”

Helena looked her carefully over, then let it go, taking Bette’s hand silently.

With the arrival of Alice’s convoy, things had become livelier among the survivors.

“whew, who’s your friend…” Shane was already checking out one of Bette’s crew. A former cop, the muscular woman wore her uniform in its torn state.  Shane decided to take the first guard shift with her.

“Shane…dammit, fine.  All right my foolish friends, let’s set up house.” Alice dished out orders in a way that allowed everyone to do things for themselves, but to be organized about it.  She never really bossed anybody around.  Even the oddest one in the bunch—Jenny—did what Alice asked of her. Lara, Alice’s girlfriend, ditched her chef garb (though she kept her knife handy) and helped unpack the jeeps.

Alice and her friends had an abundance of camping and military supplies in their vehicles. Helena and Bette’s helicopter held caches of sleeping bags, blankets, pillows and even air mattresses. In the end, Helena and Bette decided to set up a tent together—purely to cut down on waste, they reasoned aloud.  They used a canvas tent, and would prop up an extra tarp for rain.  And they chose to pile stacks of blankets and sleeping bags for a makeshift cot.

Bette set up the tent, looking around their patch of beach for extras.  A smile played at the corners of her mouth.  In the distance, she could hear Alice and Lara.  It sounded as though the giggling women had plans to keep the whole camp awake for the night.

Helena sat on a rock, a few feet from where Bette let loose her domestic side.  Her leg was fucking bothering her—it was too hot and it itched.  She allowed the cool mist of the sea to wash over it, adjusting the bandages for more exposure.

    1. oooomigod, rufus, rufus, i forgot thee…what a jerk i am. my bad. thanks luv, as always, in case you get to this last part and forgive me long enough to read 13 dam pages of this thing without a proper acknowledgement of your insightful and helpful commentary. and i agree about the hotdogs. heh. and jackieeeee! this one should give NO nightmares! i hope not anyway.

    2. A feast helebette. So good to see you and this story again. I think we can all forgive Helena having anything more than a cursory conversation with Jenny at this early stage, although it doesn’t seem to be taking anyone long to take her measure. Why they let her stick around after that revelation about Marina’s demise is rather mysterious. I mean at least the evil twin babysitters are ornery enough to sic on the zombies and be sure it’s zombies they attack. Well, I guess under the circumstances Jenny’s skill with knives earns her a spot on the team. I just wouldn’t to turn my back on her. Wow, El Wray must have had some extra potent seed for Helena and Bette to be sure Hels got knocked up just the day before. And I thought chamomile was supposed to be soothing.

    3. The last person I would go running to for Lesbian sex advice is Jenny…seriously. I love how cute and innocent and sexy and sweet and all those other good things that I’ve come to love about Belena Helena and Bette were. That was good…pps

    4. hb, hb, hb… that was the best End of Days courtship ever. My badass bionic babes were too cute at the beginning… they still have their moments, but hardcore hardassery doesn’t exactly go hand-in-hand with blushing cuteness… or does it? Jenny obviously had to kill Marina, before the secret of what a crap kisser she was got out. Humph, giving tips indeed. Not from the likes of her. Stick to the knife-play, Jen. Now then, hb… that last paragraph worried me greatly. All a bit ominous… But I trust you (I do!) so I shan’t fret. Much. Post soon! ta

    5. Well,I don’t know, I wouldn’t trust Jenny as far as Chammy could throw her, and presuming Chammy is not bionic yet, I warned you about bitin the baby! She is just twisted, offing Marina like that.I was just wondering how Bette knew her daughter had shot herself, when the infected were around the car, she didn’t see her, right? You see to what lofty heights we set our wonderings to, in this age of global warming, the lack of health care and war with anyone we can get ahold of, that we are wondering, how DO you pronounce, or spell,Chammy’s real name, and was helena high when she thought of it?? What DID hb mean by two years later, Bette had only one friend left?? She better mean Helena AND Chammy or hb won’t be the only one who will lose friends!! Nah,I’m kidding, I’m still your favorite person, right? Hey what happened to ally’s story?

    6. lol, favorite person indeed. i will go back into pronouncing the baby’s name by next chapter…you’ll hate me for a little while over what i’m doing to our favorite couple, but you’ll be happy in the ‘end’…not that there’ll ever be an end…unless of course my career takes off and i become a much busier person with an actual day job..and yeah, El Wray’s swimmers–it was in the movie, a little toss in of machismo nonsense right at the end, just before Cherry goes off with Dakota. it was annoying in the movie, but funny, though entirely unrealistic. oh dear, this is long. jenny’s funny. i think she’s a hysterical little psychopath.

    7. Speaking of the hysterical little psychopath, I’m glad Jenny’s pep talk didn’t turn Helena off lesbian sex forever. I must be twisted because her “mercy killing” of Marina made me laugh. If only IC’s Jenny were half as entertaining. As for our supercouple, their mutual shyness during the discovery phase was supercute. Tough times ahead? I can take it because we’ll be happy in the end. That’s a promise, right?
