The hood of the jeep slammed back down with a thundering clap.
"It’s not the battery. Headlights and wipers are working. No loose connection anywhere." Bette said turning around to look at Tina who had been equally perplexed by the goings on in the engine compartment.
"If it’s none of these things, I am afraid I don’t know how to repair it." She continued. "Not that I have anything here to do it anyway."
"So what now?" Tina enquired with a worried look on her face.
"Now, we radio for some help." Bette said moving towards the cabin to get the two-way radio she never left without.
"Will someone come straight away?" Tina continued with an anxious tone.
Bette could see the increasing tension growing in the accountant’s face. She tried to explain as calmly as possible.
"It probably won’t be tonight, no. It is very difficult to find anyone at night but I have no doubt that they will send a team at first light tomorrow."
"So, we have to stay here overnight?" Tina’s voice was raised slightly now as she felt momentarily panicked by the realisation. Bette put her radio back down and walked back to Tina.
"Tina, I promise you, you have nothing to fear. I have spent many a night outdoors and it is perfectly safe providing you do things right."
Tina closed her eyes at the statement and let out of big puff of air in order to help settle her nerves.
"Really, Tina, you need to trust me, I am not going to let anything happen to you." Bette had now reached the accountant and wrapped her arms around her in a comforting gesture.
Tina buried her head in the vet’s shoulder.
"You have nothing to worry about." Bette continued softly with the reassuring words. She leaned down and slightly brushed her lips against the blonde’s hair. It was something she knew she shouldn’t have done, but just couldn’t resist.
The two women leaned back from each other slightly and stared at one another for a long quiet moment.
"I am sorry." Bette said. She felt utterly miserable at the way their wonderful day had ended.

yes i’ve been told that my reactions are favorable I really don’t know what that means tho lol anyways my reaction for this chapter is “YOU ARE FREAKIN BRILLIANT!!!” I love that they’re stuck together but you Ms. kins have been teasing us quite horribly if they don’t at least kiss soon I think I’m gonna die!
Wonderful Chappie! Now that I know Bette called for reinforcements to arrive by morning, I feel better. The tent on top of the jeep is a genious idea, and omg, I love head rubs too. :) PPS!!
I’m speechless. But a tad worried. Hoping they don’t become Simba’s next meal. :) Just saw this posting before I went to bed last night but I have now answered in kind with a posting of my own.
So sweet! I love the fact that they’re taking things very slowly. Just enjoying each other’s company. The only problem is that Tina is going back to New York soon. If they don’t make some kind of commitment to each other before she leaves will they just drift apart?

You M’am, have a thing for massages, don’t you?… Can’t blame you, love those as well… Right, it was so late last night when I read your chapter that I decided to postpone my comment til this morning… heu… mid-day. That was a purely wonderful chapter!!! You are so very good at this little game of setting up some incredibly sweet, slow-burning, romantic moments! Tina is having the time of her life… and not just because of the wildlife! Awwwww, who wouldn’t want to snuggle up next to either of these two under the moon and starlight Serengeti (sigh).
