As soon as her muse retired behind the bedroom door, Lana grabbed her cell phone and walked to the kitchen. “She was outside while I was gone into town but she didn’t elaborate on what she was doing out there in the cold.”
“Did she say anything else?”
“Nothing. She said she was out and then changed the subject. And then she went into one of her seductive moods, even though we are not romantically involved.”
“People with retrograde amnesia often retreat into their own imaginary worlds because they can’t remember the real one. Since you first brought her to me, we’ve established that she has a post-traumatic amnesia due to some unexplained head injury but I suspect it’s more than that. She might have suffered some psychological trauma, resulting in repressed memories, as well,” Lana could hear the other person shifting some papers, probably going through the medical file. “Just be patient with her. Right now you are the only person she really knows and trusts. Write down everything she says or remembers to give us clues that might help to solve the mystery.”
“The Lady of the Lake,” Lana murmured to herself.
“What?”
“Nothing…thank you, Claire.”
“Just keep me informed on any changes in her behavior or if she gets any memories back, no matter how little or insignificant.”
“Okay,” Lana sighed, hanging up and pouring herself a glass of wine. She looked out the window, watching the snow falling. Another storm was coming but the landscape looked so peaceful and beautiful in this moment that all she wanted was to stare at the moon over the frozen lake and daydream about a certain brunette she had met yesterday.
“Helena,” Lana whispered the name with adoration. She could stare into those lovely green eyes for hours. Loud noise from the bedroom brought her back from her fantasy world. There was another brunette she had to think about. Who was she and what had happened to her?
Her muse was still in the bedroom and Lana thought back to a Monday night over six months ago. She had been taking one of her habitual morning walks by the lake. She always found inspiration in the early morning hours.

Great chapter–you’ve brought the story back into the real world in just eight pages!! Terrific plotting as always. I love the idea of Jenny having a doppelganger/twin! Not sure who is taking the next chapter but you’ve certainly giving them a lot to work with. Well done.
