Shane and Molly: A Love Story – Chapter 21

As the sun bathed the dawn sky in its fiery orange glow, Molly sat on a chaise lounge on the balcony outside the master bedroom, her knees curled to her chest, clutching a mug of coffee. Closing her eyes, she brought the cup to her lips, breathing in its aroma before taking a long sip from it. She placed the mug on the table beside her and brought her hands back in front of her face. Looking at the thin band that now adorned her ring finger, she smiled as she spun it around. She let her mind wander through the memories that they had made yesterday, from seeing Shane standing at the end of the aisle waiting for her to staring into Shane’s eyes that night, until they both fell asleep, wrapped in a tight embrace.

Lost in her memories, Molly did not hear Shane approach. As she neared the doorway to the balcony, Shane could see Molly playing with her ring, a smile upon her face. Leaning against the frame, she took a moment to just watch Molly. A crooked smile crossed her lips, as she absent mindedly began to play with her ring. Unable to be apart from her any longer, Shane crossed the distance between them and standing behind her, laid her hands on Molly’s shoulders. “Morning, baby,” Shane whispered in her ear, as she slid her hands down Molly’s chest and stomach. She lightly kissed Molly behind her ear lobe, as Molly cradled Shane’s head with her hand.

“Morning,” she answered back, contentedly, as she turned her face to Shane’s and pressed her lips to hers.

Without saying another word, Shane, holding Molly’s hand, came around the side of the chair and slid behind Molly. Molly laid back and rested her head on Shane’s chest, as Shane encircled Molly in her arms. She laid a gentle kiss on Molly’s forehead, as they watched the sun rise over the Pacific.

Shane threw the last bag into the back of her Jeep and climbed into the driver’s seat. Leaning over, she kissed Molly, put the car in gear and pulled away from the beach house. Molly turned to watch as the house disappeared from view the farther they drove.
