“So how does it feel to be a married woman ?” Helena asked Tina as they stood outside the hotel waiting for the car that was due to take them to the airport. Bette had gone back inside the hotel to retrieve Shane from the over enthusiastic intentions of some random woman who she had started to talk to when they had been in the lobby and so far she had been unsuccessful in getting away from her.

“I will tell you in a couple of weeks “

“Of course – Sunday didn’t happen “

“No “ Tina smiled “But just for the record I imagine that it feels utterly sensational to have told your life partner how you feel about them and had a great celebration that didn’t end until 6 o’clock the following morning “

“You look sickeningly pleased with yourself “

“That could be because I am “ Tina replied sitting on her case and pulling her sunglasses out and putting them on. The sun was a little too bright for someone who had as little sleep as she had. Helena was already wearing her sunglasses because she was feeling rough – two nights with little or no sleep had given her bags under her eyes.

“Getting hitched in Vegas was not what I expected of this weekend “

“What did you expect ?”

“Lots of drinking “

“Well you got that – some of us more than others of course “

“I was impressed with how much energy Bette had – she was dancing and jumping around when I was more than ready for a nap “

“Between you and I – so was I . I did expect her to have to cry off around midnight and by 1am I was worried about her but she was fine. She told me to stop worrying about her”

“She can hardly expect you not to worry – after everything she has been through “

Tina sighed “There is a really fine line that I have had to find and for the most part I have. Being cared for – looked after when she is sick is such an alien concept to Bette. Its been one of the hardest things to get used to as a couple “
