    Still – Chapter 4

“You stopped loving me.” Bette told Tina

Tina dropped her eyes, picked up their now empty coffee mugs and walked to the kitchen sink. Gently placing them without a sound. She looked out the window into what was once their backyard. Large garden that she’d made a beautiful haven and the pool Bette kept sparkling.

“That’s true.” Tina replied. “I didn’t know that till you broke it off with me. Even then it took me a year to really know it.” Turning to look at Bette who was perched on a barstool.

“Why?” Bette was afraid to know but she couldn’t leave this to haunt her oneday.

“Bette remember how we were? You were my knight in shining armour, better than that! You were my everything, I was consumed by you and you looked at me with so much love. Then when we lost the baby, well..” Tina trailed off and walked toward Bette. Standing between Bette’s legs and wrapping her arms around her neck. Bette instinctively embraced Tina and they melted into each other. After a few minutes in each others’ arms, just feeling their hearts beating and rhythmic breathing from the other, Tina pulled back, arms still circling Bette’s shoulders. “I was devastated beyond words. I blamed myself endlessly for not carrying to term. I felt punished by the universe, that I couldn’t give you a child. Just one child!” Tears were coming down Tina’s cheeks, her voice choked with emotion. “Your absence didn’t make it easier for me, I felt as if I had lost you and the baby and that I wasn’t destined to be happy. I know Shane and Kit were there. They are the closest people I have to you, so yeah they were there. But you know, it’s always been you Porter, since the day we laid eyes on each other.” Tina stopped talking and looked at Bette. Trying to see her.

Bette stood up, with Tina in her arms and headed for the large couch in the lounge. With Tina still in her arms she sat her sideways on her lap. She looked up at Tina, holding eye contact with her, then gently smiled.

    1. Great update. Love that you have cut out all the b.s. and are getting on with an adult story. However, I do want to know who Andrew is and what he means to Tina. Great story and thanks for sharing.
