The Gay Princess – Chapter Eight

“Tomorrow, I’m going to get you a ring.” I tell her. She smiles.

“Okay, then.” And she kisses me again. She stands up and holds her hand out to me. I know what’s going to happen…

    The Next Day

I am just back from the store with a ring for Bette. Mine is also platinum but it has six little diamonds in it and I engraved: My heart beats for you.

I walk into the living room where Bette is reading a book. She looks up and smiles.

    “Hi, baby.” She says.

“Hey, babe. I’ve got you something.” I tell her, she smiles. I sit next to her and take out the red velvet box. I open it and show her the ring. She grins.

“It’s beautiful, baby.” She says and kisses me. I take her hand and slip it over her ring finger.

“I can’t wait to marry you.” I tell her. She winks.

“Me neither.” She says. We kiss repeatedly. After that, I snuggle close to her and rest my head on her shoulder while she takes my hand in hers.

“Where do you want to get married?” She asks me.

“I don’t know. We have to do something big to please the people but I also want a small wedding. I can’t choose.” I tell her. She kisses me onto of her head.

“We don’t have to choose. We can marry in the national park, we do the traditional vows and then we can have a small wedding here or somewhere else where we only have our parents, minus Maxine, siblings and our friends where we can write our own vows and wear what we want. That’s possible.” She tells me and I kiss her.

“That would be nice…” I say. “So, maybe we should marry here, it’s secluded and no photographers can reach us.”

“That’s fine with me.” She tells me.

“The most fun part is the honey moon.” I tell her and she chuckles.

“That’s true. Do you know where I’ve always wanted to go?” She asks me.

    “No, I don’t.”

“I would like to go to Cape Verde.”

    “That’s like Africa, right?”

“Yeah… I think there aren’t a lot of people who know us out there and it’s something different than other vacations.”
