It was a Friday morning, and Bette had a late start at the gallery. She sat at the table drinking a cup of coffee and updating herself on the local news. Tina came up behind her and wrapped her arms round her.

“Morning baby”

“Mmm” Bette kissed Tina softly on the lips “morning gorgeous”

“What time do you have to be at work?”

“I have a bit of time” Bette continued to browse the newspaper.

“Well I can think of a much better way of spending the time than reading that” Tina pulled back Bette’s chair and stepped in front of her.

“You’re insatiable!” Bette laughed “you wanna have ***** at this time in the morning?”

Tina straddled Bette’s thighs “did I ever even mention *****? You think about it too much!”

“There’s never too much when it comes to you” Bette kissed Tina tenderly.

“What I actually meant was the time could be better spent talking”

Bette raised an eyebrow.

“Well these rings we’re wearing aren’t just a fashion accessory” Tina pointed out.

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I may be mistaken, but I thought they were followed by a wedding”

Bette smiled “I thought we were taking our relationship slowly”

“There’s slow, and then there’s a snails pace, Bette. I want to marry you more than anything else in the world, so why should we wait?”

“Have I ever told you how much I love you?” Bette planted a lingering kiss on Tina’s lips.

“It can’t hurt to hear it again”

“I love you” Bette kissed Tina again “more than life itself”

“And I love you even more than that”

“Not possible”

“Are we fighting?” Tina grinned.

“How about we just agree that we love each other equally?”

“Sounds good to me” they kissed again.

“So you wanna plan our wedding?”

“Yes” Tina looked into Bette’s eyes.

“Well I think I know some people who might be able to help us with that one” Bette grinned “How about I get them over this evening?”

“Perfect” Tina got up and passed the phone to Bette.

Bette dialled and waited for an answer “Al?…who do you think it is?…of course…well T and I could use some help…wedding plans…thought that might get you interested…tonight?…yeah bring them both…I’ll see you then…bye”

“They’re coming?”

“Leave it to Alice”

“Now shouldn’t you be getting to work?” Tina pointed out.

“Uh huh” Bette got up and collected her briefcase, jacket and cell phone “I’ll see you tonight and we’ll make plans” she kissed Tina gently.

Tina deepened the kiss and ran her hands through Bette’s hair.

She eventually pulled away “I’ll look forward to it”

“Wow, you certainly know how to make a girl not wanna leave!”

“Go on, the sooner you go, the sooner you’ll be back” Tina patted Bette playfully on the arse.

“I’m going, I’m going” Bette grinned and blew Tina a kiss as she left the house.

That evening Alice arrived with Shane and Dana in tow. They sat on the sofa opposite Bette and Tina and Alice pulled out a notebook.

“Right” she started.

“You made a list?” Bette asked.

“You wanted my help?” Alice glanced at Bette in a way that told her to just to what she was told.

“Go ahead, Alice” Tina patted Bette’s thigh.

“This is really simple guys. I ask you a question, you both answer. If the answers match that’s great, and if not, we help you work out a compromise” Alice explained.

“Okay…” Bette sounded hesitant.

“First question…when do you wanna get married?”

“Soon” they both answered.

“Well that’s great, but we’re gonna have to set a date”

“We’re?” Bette asked.

“We, you, same thing” Alice waved her arm at Bette “now when do you want it?”

“I don’t know, how about two months from now?” Bette suggested.

“Perfect” Tina smiled and kissed Bette on the cheek.

“Please, this is serious stuff” Alice scolded Tina.

“No kissing?”

“No kissing” Alice confirmed “okay, second question, location?”

“Well I always thought we could have it here” Bette spoke up.

“Here? But we don’t have a license or anything. Isn’t that a lot of hassle?” Tina asked.

“*****, baby, you don’t know do you?” Bette turned to Tina.

“Don’t know what?”

“I just always assumed you knew, we can’t actually get married legally”

Tina’s face fell as she stared at Bette.
