Almost three weeks had past since Dana was injured.
Dana could see improvement physically every day as she slowly increased the amount of activity she did. She wasn’t yet doing any running, but, she was taking longer and longer walks on increasingly difficult trails. She was also using the elliptical trainer in the exercise room. She was also spending some time in the pool and hoped to be able to start doing laps soon.
The relationship with Alice was progressing nicely, as well. Alice had re-arranged her schedule so she could meet up with Dana for meals and spent much of her free time with the young guard. While they had no formal “dates”, they did watch several movies together and Dana always showed up after Alice’s sparring matches with Sam to walk with her on a cool-down.
Their conversations had taken on a new dimension. Alice was opening up a bit on her work. Dana didn’t stand a chance of understanding all the issues, but, that allowed her the freedom to look at things in a different way. Alice was finding her to be a very valuable resource when she needed to talk something through. Dana also seemed to have an innate ability to realize when Alice just wanted to vent as opposed to when she wanted some sort of feedback.
There hadn’t been any more instances of sleeping in the same bed even though the opportunity presented itself several times after late night talks. Dana was feeling well enough that she knew it would be hard to keep her feelings in check if she was close to Alice in such an intimate setting. She wanted to make sure she was completely healed first before making that jump to a physical relationship. To be honest, both women were enjoying the build-up with kissing and cuddling and the occasional grope or two.
Dana was in her suite working on some college coursework she had neglected since being posted at the island. She would need to get back on track if she wanted to make her goal of getting her bachelor’s degree by the end of the year.
Once Dana got over her initial frustration at being on limited duty and having been moved to the main house, she was actually feeling incredibly grateful. She was able to spend the time she needed to get her studies under control in a quieter environment with fewer distractions than the barracks.

Oh my GOODNESS!!!!! I’m here! So sorry, the whole birthday thing caught up with me. GREAT STUFF, i’m loving the Couter of the camel legs! LoL good times. Now that Al and Dana have the possibility of spending A LOT more time together..does that mean they are going to work on the one vital relationship feature, conversation? awww this is so great! I just hope that all the time Dana will be spending with Alice at work won’t have any negative effects on their relationship. They’ll definitely need breaks from each other! But I’m sure you’ll take care of them just fine. I still heart this, and you, immensely.
“To be or not to be? That is the question”. Excellent writing MaGoose!!! You really thought of everything. The entire conversation with Harrison was really nicely done. The emotion and reaction were very well written. Harrison was right about the complement of their personalities. I should think it would work because I actually know a couple who are life and business partners for over 40 years since they were teenagers. This would be a perfect scenario for the two of them to be on a more equal footing. That’s right, I forgot about her college. Thank goodness you are the writer and not me. “Counting camel legs at the Mohave transport depot?” LMAO. So you already have another story in the oven? Unbelievable. I thank you for another fantastic post during this mini Danish drought.
i absolutly love this story MG!i think you are amazing at that build up to a relationship with Alice and dana! i so want dana to take the job and have her and alice together all the time and then when dana is healed to have a proper relationship! thanks for the chapter MaGoose i loved it pps!
hmmm, work kicked my ass and all my muddled brain has rolling around in it is loved the new chap, reckon they’ll make a great team…but will butt heads on occasion
Who would be crazy enough to turn down an offer to be with Alice all day long?… If Alice had thought that this would have a negative effect on their relationship, she wouldn’t have made the offer. Dana just needs to talk to Alice about her worries and everything will be OK. But in case she doesn’t take the job, can I please be Al’s personal assistant? I even have a college degree, lol… Thanks a lot for the update!
