THE L WING – Chapter 196
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter
I get out of the car and look at Bette who is taking numerous parcels from the trunk of the car. I retrieve the pink helium balloon which is all I am allowed to carry and walk to the front door. Before I get the chance to knock at the door it’s opened by Carmen who is grinning
“Hey there “
She looks terrific and is rightly beaming with happiness. She has every reason to – yesterday Sophie was released from hospital and they are now a family reunited at last. I hug her
“You look great “I tell her
“I feel it – don’t think the lack of sleep has caught up with us yet – how are you? How many weeks left?”
“A month tomorrow – she’s due on the 2nd of September “
“Think you’ll get that long?”
“She better “ Bette appears with her parcels for her god daughter “ you look so good Carmen “
“Thank you Bette – you two have timed it to perfection- she’s awake and Shane’s with her “
“No granny ?”
“She’s got a cold so she has decided she will not see her little bambino until she is better “
“That’s very sensible “
We all go inside and Carmen takes us into the huge spacious living room. The room is lined with bookshelves which have scores of cards on them celebrating the birth and now the homecoming of their baby.
“Oh wow “Bette says smiling at Shane who is sitting on the sofa holding her daughter. Shane looks up and I don’t think I have ever seen her look as proud as she does – she is beaming with happiness
“Hey Sophie – its Auntie President and Auntie First Lady “
“Less of that – its Bette and Tina “Bette grins and dumps the parcels into a chair and goes across to sit beside Shane. She peeks into the blanket and she smiles
“She really is getting bigger – it shows “
“She’s putting on a couple of ounces a week. She’s just over 5lbs but she is so much healthier than she was when she was born “

You’re not planning on a terrorist assault on POTUS 5 days before her daughter’s birth are you?
Hey Ally great chapter as per usual, I have been a big wets wing fan both this and the real thing. And I apprecaite the effort you put into it its great!!.However please dont write a terrorist attack in as I would hate that. This couple are doing so great and some happy times are required for a while.
Great update, can´t wait for the Baby to enter the story. and what will Tina think about the dilemma…. lol Please post soon

The world waits for no man or woman as the case may be. Bette is first and formost the POTUS and Tina knew that when she said I do and I don’t think she will hold it against Bette that duty calls.I will be tough for both of them with this happening just five days before the due date because as we all know first babies tend to come when they are good and ready no matter what day the doctor says they are due. Hopefully Ella will hold off till Mommy B gets back home. Understandably Tina will be disapointed if Bette misses the delivery but she will also know that there is no where she would rather be than there holding T’s hand through it all. PPS
if Tina is realy done being a bitch to Bette she will see that Bette dose not want to be the political whipping gal buy also is going to be at odds with maybe not seeing her baby born, its easy for a birth mother she has to be there but the other parent, man Ally please don’t do that to her. Md
Oh, my God! Don’t tell me that Bette is going to miss all the birth process! That’t totally unacceptable! She has a f… responsibility, but it will make B feel absolutely bad. Come on, Ally, plan something spectacular, instead!

As always AllyE, this chapter was fantastic. Oh honey, please don’t have Bette go away just abou tthe time the baby is due. She so needs to be with Tina, for all of them. Tina needs her wife there with her, not on the other side of the world with a bunch of murdering assholes that don’t give a fig for anyone else especially Americans. We need Bette to stay on this side of the pond. I know its your story and you have come through with some wonderful alternatives in your stories. Forgive me but, I just had to vent a little.Wonderful as always.PPS You are doing a superb job. You should be writing books and I will always be purchasing them because I know what a great writer you are. You would be on the top of the NY Times best seller list for at least 52 weeks. PPS.

77,000 words and I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one! Interesting story about W, although I don’t think his stupor or his inability to focus can always be blamed on mountain biking…. too few brain cells, maybe, but not exercise. Anyway, lovely chapter. Love that you have brought the First Couple back in sync.
