    THE L WING

    Chapter 226


     

    Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter

     

    I see the house in front of me -my legs are tight but the early morning run has been really good for me and even though its just 9am I know that today is going to be a big day. Beside me I have only one of the protection squad . We reach the house and I stop

    “How far was that and how was our time ?”

    Beside me Theresa looks at her watch

    “We have been out for an hour “

    “That’s why my lungs are going to explode “

    “You did fine “

    “How far ?”

    “Just under five miles “

    “Pretty good “

    “Nice work since you only had a baby three months ago “

    I look at my number one body guard and laugh “ You might have a quiet day tomorrow because I can’t move “

    “Might be a good time to do some Christmas shopping “

    “It might -okay – you can see me into the house and go and get your own breakfast and get a shower. I am off to see what the President is doing “

    “I hear the hostages are close to being released “

    “By the time you get a shower you will probably be able to watch it on the news “

    “That great – its been a strain “

    I nod “ It has – thanks Theresa “

    “Thank you Madam First Lady “

    I go in the house and look for my family. Bette is in the living room with Ella -the TV is on and guess what – the station is CNN.

    “Hey there “

    Ella is in her baby cocoon – sitting up watching the mobiles and touching the chimes. She gurgles when she sees me

    “Hey honey – did you miss your momma ? “

    I lift her out of her cocoon and kiss her. I greet Bette with a kiss as I sit next to her

    “How are you ?”

    “Good – you have a good run ?”

    “Yes – think I might have run too far but I really enjoyed it “

    “Good – maybe we can go out together soon “

    4. So happy you posted anothe rchapter of my favorite story AllyE. Melvin really is the artful dodger, isn’t he? And his answer to whether Bette’s mother is alive really makes one ponder, “is Bette right,” somehow, I think she is right in the assumption that her mother is indeed alive. Post when you can.

    7. Bette doesn’t handle the unexpected well? Not such a great recommendation for a president I dare say. Why are Bette’s emotions something Tina thinks she can and should manage? And when did Kit become such a total crunt?

I don’t know why I have the idea that Bette’s mum is going to be alive… and maybe.. just maybe.. really close to Bette.. that will make us say! OH MY GOD .. she was there all the time! But of course.. this is just a silly thought of me… right?? *kiss*

    15. Whoa, Melvin didn’t follow up on Bette’s mother. It would be a difficult disease to beat but I guess it wouldn’t be impossible. I am thrilled to have gotten a chance to read this chapter. Great writing!
