    I sigh “ I am just saying that maybe you should think about this – you have so much love in your life – you have the greatest job in America – you are the President – you can make such a difference to people’s lives. You have made a difference to so many American’s who have jobs because of you and your Government. You have saved lives and you have made so many more people’s lives better . You are the greatest 21st century President – that is your place in history. I do not believe that your mother is alive – deep down neither do you. What you do have is so much love and so much respect. I cannot begin to understand how to feel not having a mom while you were growing up – the thought of Ella growing up and not having you and I with her every minute scares me – but babe – you have so much going on in your life. Maybe you should just accept that it happened and move on. “

    Bette looks at me

    “If that’s the case why are you spending so much time on the internet trying to find her ?”

    I look at her and realise that I have been rumbled. Its pointless denying it – she is too darn smart – which is kind of why she is the President. So playing the innocent or the dumb is not going to work. But equally – how much does she know. There is no way in hell that she knows about Elizabeth Morgan – so this could be a fishing trip.

    “Because I want to give you peace of mind – forgive me for wanting to help my wife “

    “I have the resources of the American Government at my disposal – so I don’t think I need you hunting around “

    The tone in her voice is of someone who has finally lost patience – with me. If she really thinks that I am trying to interfere then she doesn’t know me – or give my research skills much credit

    “You do – why have you not called the Feds in to find her -I will tell you why – because you know what it will do to your credibility if the Press gets a hold of the fact that you are looking for your dead mother “

    3. One surefire way to tell is with the Social Security record, that number and record will follow a person to the grave and beyond. It will follow her thru name changes or anything else she tries to change. Once you have a social securit number, it can not be changed even if you change your name or whatever you might do. You can only have one unless you are put in a federal witness protection program but the original number is still there and the original record is held by the feds and no one is allowed to access the info without a visit from the FBI; and believe me you DO NOT want that level of investigation.     7. so glad that Tina fessed up and put Bette’s mind at ease about the furtiveness. There’s nothing worse than knowing that people are talking behind your back, to your face is hard enuff. I hope for their sake there is a resolution over this because its affected Bette so badly all her life.

    11. Well I had thought there would be more yelling, but I’m glad they got to a place where they could talk calmly. Somehow I think Bette still might have a meltdown on the way. I hope not though. Thanks for posting!

    14. And even if they can’t find a death certificate so far, they can see where the paper trail on her mother goes (tax records and the like) even if only to see where it ends.

    16. I love my L Wing …… That could have really gotten ugly … but thankfully she entrusted her loving wife. Tina will get to the bottom of it i’m sure. PPS :D
